Ariana Grande had a terrific breakthrough on my yearend list last 2013 as three of her singles ranked consecutively within the Top 20. This time, the lady of the hour finally cracked up the Top 10 with the collaboration opposite Austrialian rap sensation Iggy Azalea. I admit I wasn't really much into "Problem" during the time of its release. In fact, this track has the poorest statistics among the Top 10 entries. However, I really got into this single much when her follow-up singles were released consecutively. I can finally say "Problem" is an awesome track, not to mention the killer vocals she had on this one.

After settling within the Top 20 for two consecutive years, the original queen of my Best Of list reclaims her Top 10 standing with the groundbreaking "Shake It Off". Taken off as the lead single off her fifth record, the track showcased Taylor's transformation into a fully fledged popstar. The song and the video were very likable. Initially, I had doubts if I can settle with Taylor doing these purely pop records. However, I was convinced that she's taking the right direction especially when 1989 was released. I'm pretty sure Taylor is now back on track and ready to conquer my yearend list once again.

Taylor Swift made a gigantic comeback in the yearender Top 10 with a back-to-back appearance. Despite only being released late 2014, "Blank Space" was a huge success on my countdown. Just when I had doubts with "Shake It Off", this song proved that Taylor is going in to an impressive pop direction. No negative thoughts regarding this single. Probably one of her best singles since "Back To December" and ultimately her best music video to date.

Kicking off the Top 5 is Sam Smith's sixth and final entry on the list. The song started as a grower for me. "Stay With Me" is good but I never really got hooked into it so hard. Nevertheless, my liking for the song strengthened months after. Of all the Sam's singles, this one along with "I'm Not The Only One" are the standouts. Its simplicity and soul are the primary aspects why I dig for "Stay With Me". Ultimately, one of the best soul tracks of 2014.

5 Seconds Of Summer makes a very impressive debut on my yearend list with the smash pop rock track "She Looks So Perfect". Having exposed lately to pop rock boybands, the release of the single was very timely. The song showcased a power punk throwback vibe along with strong vocals and catchy hooks. Probably my favorite punk song to date. Did I mention it was the supposed #1 song if only this year's ruler wasn't released?

And the biggest single from a breakthough artist goes to "Fancy". Both Iggy and Charli scored their first Top 10 tracks courtesy of my favorite grower hit of the year. Considering the song's longevity, I obviously wasn't really much into it during its time of release. However, "Fancy" became a playlist favorite when its popularity started to fade. I guess the rap verses really caught my attention. Not to mention Charli also delivered such fancy hooks and playful bridge. One of my favorite rap tracks to date.
