I'm so confused right now. Why are you all acting so OTT over this? So weird.

He waited until immediately after the Grammy nominees were announced to say this. Adele submitted "Hello" for Best Short Form Music Video and it was the only one of her submissions to not get nominated. He's basically arguing that she was making a social statement with the "Hello" video simply by casting a black actor, and if anything, it's coming off as obvious shade towards Beyoncé and the "Formation" video. It makes them sound pressed for getting snubbed in that category when Bey got a nomination.
Anyways...
I feel like I've read this before, but I don't really remember it. Apparently George Michael wanted to cover "Love Is a Losing Game" with Adele at an Amy Winehouse tribute and she declined because she tried to include an Amy cover in the setlist of the Adele Live tour and couldn't get through it because it made her too emotional:

We communicated by email… and initially what I wanted was for us to sing Love Is A Losing Game by Amy Winehouse at the Elizabeth Taylor tribute I did… She was basically telling me she couldn't even… she tried to put one of [Winehouse's] songs in her own set and she couldn't even get through it. They're obviously musical goddesses but I think the tragedy would have been too much for her.
