I thought they never really got big in Europe, they were avoidable here anyways. I think they had one song that made it on to music TV but other than that they were irrelevant other than Miley Cyrus' playthings.

An iTunes countdown is the best choice for building up the hype. It’s like an album preview and many people like listening to 3 or 4 full songs before deciding whether to buy the album or not.

BEP's "Imma Be" was a promo single that later got a full single release and it was huge. Same goes for Taylor's "You Belong With Me." Carrie is rather an albums artist.

You had to pre-order the album to get a single?

I don't like that at all. It seems a bit like..shady. I wouldn't have bought the single, I would have downloaded it somewhere. Loads of people only like a couple songs by an artist, which is fine, they should have that option. I can see why it helped though obviously.

As things are going now it will be either blocked by Enrique, Gaga or Pink if it gets to a #2

Indeed. Taylors promotion is fantastic, that is undeniable.

Britney could sell even better than her if her promo team stepped it up. Just because she can bring the sales without promo doesn't mean they shouldn't promo so she can reach her full potential.

Yes. The 190.000 people that bought the single had to buy the album later, the pre-order couldn't be canceled.
