Well, Britney came back.
I think it was smart to use that gimmick but she needed to find HER IDENTITY.
By era 2, she was already wearing dresses confusing her fanbase.
It seemed like she let hollywood change her a bit and that was her downfall
ALL POPSTARS must solidify 3 strong eras to move past icon for the moment.
People "reinvent' themselves way too much.
Madonna, MJ, Janet, Beyonce and Britney mastered it because they reinvented their sound but it was still very much their identity.
