Madonna was testing Gaga in a way. But Gaga's victim complex caused her to fall instead of #Rise.

We shade each others fave (in love) but I speaks nothing but the truth...
That's why I don't get why people say anyone can do what "xyz" did.
Um, no.
It's not that easy to maintain.
I mean people really thought gaga was going to be the next madonna in 2009 and people like me and others were like...gurl.
She hasn't even survived the downfall.
Kesha had awhole bunch of hits.
That's why it's IMPERATIVe that katy handles her next era properly. This will determine if she was the Paula Abdul that got lucky for one more era or if she has what it takes.
The good thing about Katy is that she has an identity and a strong brand in pop and is more original than not.
Applies to EVERY artist but
my formula:
Icon for the moment (Kesha, Pitbull, Avril etc.)
Icon ( genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre) Katy currently
Legend (genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre)
Katy past icon for the moment with Prism and is an undeniable icon after 3 solid eras.
Her next era will solidify her iconic status and prep her to be a legend in the making.
She's an icon in pop music, not quite an entertainment icon, a pop culture icon and an overall music icon because you know a Katy perry sound when you hear it)
Katy needs era 4 to solidify her iconic status so that she can become a legend in the future.
For instance, Beyonce
Icon for the moment -surpassed
Icon (genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre) achieved in 2008, 2008, 2008 and 2011 respectively
Legend (genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre)
Legend in r&b as of 2011
Legend in entertainment as of 2013
I feel by the end of Lemonade she's be a legend in pop culture 2017
A music icon. I can see her being a music legend in the future but her last two eras proved she is an undeniable music icon who has what it takes to become a music legend in the future
For instance, Britney
Icon for the moment-surpassed
Icon (genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre) achieved in 2001, 2008, 2008, 2011)
Legend (genre, entertainment, pop culture, overall genre)
Legend in pop 2008
Legend in entertainment 2011
Legend in pop culture 2008
Failed to achieve legendary status in music 2013

She's over but she REMAINS a legend who just failed to become more than a music icon. Eras 8 and 9 (which is great but doesn't move things forward) were what was supposed to make Britney a music legend in addition to her other legendary titles. it's good Glory is a good album but she'll have to push through and be more unique, creative and find more of her identity in b10 if she wants a chance at upgrading her cert
