Let's just forget about impact for a second, I'd like to see someone argue that Hello is a better video than Formation.

It's not being delusional. "Hello" and "Formation" are both great videos in their own right, but I just think that "Hello" is the superior video. I'm not trying to take away from "Formation," but for Christ's sake, it's not even Beyoncé's best video. "Hello" is a much better video, in my opinion, and I'm pretty sure most people would agree that in terms of the cinematography, it's miles better.

I don't understand why you feel the need to argue with someone every time they say something that differs from your opinion. This is a FORUM. We're entitled to our opinions. I never said my opinion was right and yours wasn't; I'm just saying why I think "Hello" is a better video than "Formation" and more worthy of Video of the Year. I don't get why you act like it's a crime for us to have differing opinions.

yeah but more than anything i think it showed how MUCH the world had missed her. also Hello vid was such a diff vid than all others from the popstars. sepia toned, long, beautiful, the iconic flip-phone...
but i agree that Formation itself sparked another kind of debate, it was more controvertial and compared to how it fared on the charts it had massive impact.

so they were huge but in different ways
and i live formation and the vid, either could win for me, but Formation is more interesting

Hello is a better video than Formation

Actually I do like the Formation video a little more than the Hello video.

Also I never said Formation wasn't more impactful than Hello. What I said is that Formation is not the catalyst that caused society to have a newfound interest on a issue. Instead, Formation is the consequence of that societal issue that's been going on for the past 5 years.

And like Mike said, her Superbowl performance may even have more impact than the Formation M/V itself.

No one has claimed that Formation was the catalyst for the media and the people to have an interest in black lives and issues.

However, it did spark conversation and got people who wouldn't usually be talking about these issues to discuss them.

I think we can all agree that it fueled more discussion about BLM in general. However in terms which one is the better video, its subjective.

What delusion? People are allowed to have different opinions.

Hello and Formation are two completely different types of songs. You can't compare the video for a ballad to a video for an uptempo, dance song.

It's not like she's winning VOTY anyways, but there's no need to discredit it.

I'm not here to fight, but just two cents on the argument that Formation video brought about conversation/contributed significantly to its development...
There is no positive Google search correlation between "Beyonce Formation"/"Formation" and "Black Lives Matter", "blm", "police brutality", Trayvon Martin", "Mike Brown", "Tamir Rice", "black", "Ferguson", etc. The only search term I found that positively correlated was "Black Panther". This would relate to the SB performance, not the music video.
