With the blogs... it was a safe haven. A place where we COULD do that. Some people can't handle SYG so they don't go in there. If you can't handle the blogs then don't go in there either. It's just a place where people can do whatever they want. No one really knows the blogs unless you go in there. You're acting as if we're burning the blacks at the stake and having orgies. The only truly p0rnagraphic part of the blogs was the Dirty Talk thread. Everyone knew it and should just not be in there if they had brains. This is just alienating more people.

I could talk more and more, but it won't change anything so I should just stop.

Oh, shut up. That's NOT at all what I said and you know it. If anyone said half the horribly offensive **** they say in the blogs in real life they'd be arrested or have their ass beaten. It's not freedom of expression, it's just downright disgusting. Just because it's online and anonymous doesn't mean you should be able to get away with it--and this is actually something many major sites are moving towards (with news sites switching comments to FB-only and YouTube requesting that people comment under real names).

I'm all for the messiness of ATRL, but if you really can't have a good time without blurting out wildly offensive and archaic slurs + endlessly attacking members in blogs (not very Born This Way of y'all), you have a problem. I don't agree with the graphic/suggestive content being banned from blogs, but that wasn't even the issue with blogs. I'm happy they addressed the actual problem with blogs.

We can't drag in regular posts or else we're warned, and in SYG you have to deal with those serious stans who stay up all night arguing over who would be forgotten if they died and stans who stayed perched with Billboard, IFPI, Metacritic, and Mediabase open in every tab.

Both sections literally ruin the fun. One is too serious on being strict, one is too serious period.

See? That's one thing. That's totally FINE with going away, but in another sense... an avatar with a SOAP dispenser was banned. Like come on. You can be strict, but you can also over do it.

I guess I'm just not understanding why that's relevant to blogs. I get the updated avatar rules and they're fine, but I really don't know who would have a problem with the "dirty" blogs if they're explicitly marked as "dirty" from the title and you're not forced to view their contents while browsing the site. Even if someone is opposed to explicit blogs, they don't have to view them. And if you're worried about minors viewing their contents, just enable some sort of age verification for blogs marked as explicit.

I do think the Blogs needed a rule update, but I think the wrong types of blogs and comments got targeted. The trolling and bullying that took place there seemed like a much larger issue to me.

I don't think the mods understand that each indivudal person has a brain. I can choose not to view the blogs (as I do!) and I can choose to only visit SYG when I am in the mood for hysterical dragging (as I do!)

Do I have to visit the blogs? Nope. I just don't click there and don't give a **** about what happens there.
Do I have to visit SYG? Nope. I just visit there whenever i feel like it.

What I don't understand is why you block something that is completely optional in the first place. What flawed logic is it to close these areas of the forum when not everyone uses them?

Nobody is forcing anyone to visit the blogs. Nobody is forcing anyone to visit SYG. Taking them down because a few members or mods feel that it isn't the right 'direction' or 'atmosphere' is absolutely ridiculous because GUESS WHAT! You don't have to click on the thread! You don't have to click on the blogs! Is it that hard to understand? Like fore ****s sake just let the people use whatever areas they want and not use whatever areas they don't want.
