The song grew on me, but I have to admit it's not my favorite from her. If any other pop girl sang this, I wouldn't really even think twice, it's clearly her voice that makes this song special, because the song itself isn't special. It's certainly not bad, and actually quite good amidst a terrible year in popular music, but when you compare it to Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, Set Fire to the Rain, Turning Tables, etc. it definitely comes up short.

To be fair, I don't think this was ever meant to be a groundbreaking single for her. The way she describes it, she chose it as the lead because the lyrics felt appropriate for comeback single. She even admitted she had no idea what else to write about on this song after the first verse.

She probably wanted the Tobias Jesso Jr. song as the lead but Hello felt more appropriate.
