Milestones: Despite falling out of the top 10 this week, Adele's "19" becomes the 129th album to spend 100 weeks or more on the Catalog chart. It entered the chart on August 29, 2009, making it the most recently-entered album to gain the 100-week milestone, and the third that started its Catalog history in 2009 (the others being Eminem's "Curtain Call: The Hits" and Led Zeppelin's "Mothership";
Taylor Swift's "Taylor Swift", at 94 weeks, is the leader among albums entering the Catalog chart in 2010 and later.) "19" spent 11 weeks on the chart and made it to #18 in 2009, re-entered at #7 in February 2010 but spent just two weeks on the chart in 2010, then returned again on January 15, 2011. It has spent the last 87 weeks on the chart, with 84 of those in the top 10, and 41 weeks at #1.
Adele's "19" is the seventeenth album by a female solo artist to gain 100 or more weeks on the Catalog chart; the complete list is below. Before looking at it, can you guess who appears on the list three times? Can you also guess who is the only artist with two albums among the top 10 longest runners for female soloists?
The next to make the list of 100-week albums will likely be another female soloist, Taylor Swift, whose debut album needs six more weeks. If she doesn't get them before Christmas, yet another female soloist, Celine Dion, is prepared to make her second entry onto the 100-week list; "These Are Special Times" needs just three more weeks.
Impressive that an album from 2006 didn't go to the catalog chart till 2010 don't you think
