First of all, I am not a fan of either of them. Don't hate them either however annoying one of the two may come across at times.
No pun intended with the "First of all" bit to Nicole
Exactly. Not unreasonable at all thinking of Aguilera delivering a successful album of power ballads with a voice like that.
That's her trademark. Always has been since the beginning, even before Genie In A Bottle.
Britney as you said indeed has shown signs of being incapable of moving beyond a certain image and sound. Not to mention showing signs of boredom whilst being on stage this year (Rihanna/Britney Billboard Music Awards).
Many loved Britney for that girl next door, innocent, Mid-West corn-fed look a lot of people seem to be fond of. But aside from that, what else has she got to offer?
With looks fading away (not as fast as Aguilera's) and little contribution to anything innovative in the Pop music industry, what else can she say?
What else can she do?
She will certainly not be remembered for her great voice as she never had a good singing voice not to mention being incapable of properly singing live in tune.
No wonder millions of people love Adele, yes it's something as simple and basic as the voice that music buyers fall for.
Appearance counts too in Pop music, of course, especially to the shallow brigade who can only see but not hear.
How far can Britney go relying just on carefully (or not so carefully) marketed looks?
Xtina has a reputation for being a lot of things.
First and foremost for having a fanbase of ignorant delusional idiots.
People who believe that sticking a "Bionic ribbon" to their Twitter profile picture for instance, will actually support an album by their favorite which miserably flopped.
Had they put the same emphasis on tangible, quantitative support to their idol by legally downloading Bionic, with promotional activities to it going on in major networks, perhaps we would be looking at a different story today.
Britney in the next 10 years, will only be able to still rely on good producers if she wants to continue releasing albums.
No good voice. It was bad enough when she was younger. Let alone what it'll turn out to be in just 3 years time.
Frankly I can't imagine Britney as an old hag still clumsily performing live.
Aguilera I think she actually stand a chance to release a successful album in the next 10 years because she can rely on something that Britney never had and never will have: the voice.
It will get softer with age, hopefully less screechy and hyena-like.
As long as she doesn't screw it all up with unmatched collaborations.
She should stick to what she does best: Soul, Funky and Ballads.
If she manages to drastically ease up on the Kreespe Creeme and booze, she might have the whole package as a cross-seller to her successful album in the next 10 years.
Perhaps a big slice of Humble Pie or two wouldn't hurt either.
Amen (not fashon)

To most people, Britney won the battle against Xtina long ago. But perhaps Britney has won just that: a series of battles. Perhaps the actual war isn't over yet. After all, Britney and Xtina are 29 and 30, respectively. Unless you think they're over, it seems premature to call it a day.
On the one hand, Xtina bombed with Bionic (and Burlesque ) like no major popstar has bombed before. But with a hit TV show and a hit 20-second cameo song, she seems back on the right track. Most important of all, she will always have her voice. That opens up a world of possibilities and allows her room beyond just a sexy popstar image. She'll always be asked to do tributes with and for legends. It's not unreasonable to think of Xtina delivering a successful album of power ballads 10 years from now.
On the other hand, Britney has always been more liked and more popular than Xtina. There's a dazed naive Monroe-eque quality to her that makes people love her. She's like the sweet cheerleader everyone roots for. But after a while if the cheerleader refuses to hang up the pom poms, it stops being cute. And Femme Fatale - as good, fun, polished, hit-filled a pop album as you can ask for - shows signs of Britney being incapable of moving beyond a certain image and sound.
So, as the '90s rivals hit the big 3-0, and with Adele reminding us that people will always appreciate the voice, does Xtina actually stand a chance of dominating the next 10 years over Britney?
