There is an alternate universe where WOA was released instead of Birthday and it performed similarly and all of the Kats say "I can't believe she released WOA when she had a smash like Birthday on her hands. Her team are so dumb."

You can't change the past and you can't predict what would have done well. Even given the perfect circumstances (Katy being on top after Dark Horse, Birthday sounding very fun and radio-friendly with the dream team writing/producing it) a song can still just not work with the GP.

For instance in 2014 this smashed WW and did well in US, and it's US.



And this was a big hit as well. Both are house-inspired songs to a very similar degree to Walking On Air.

House seemed to be seeping in and WOA may have very well capitalised on it.

Also it should've been released just so that those "radio programmers" who slammed it would see it flop and play whatever song Katy wanted next, maybe your favourite TIHWD, wouldn't have been so shunned by radio.

I'll give you Rather Be though. But still, didn't it peak at like #10 in the US while it went #1 WW? That always seems to happen. It certainly didn't put house back on the map as an "it" genre or anything and Jess/Bandit haven't done anything in the US since.

It could have done well but I don't think it would have gone #1. I think Top 20 would be expected and Top 10 would be a possibility, but again, things like promo and the music video have to be factored in.

Still pressed at that because radio is literally the only reason why TIHWD didn't outpeak Birthday.

She is so, so underrated as a performer! It pisses me off. The only better performers of this generation are Bey and Gaga, if only the people on this forum would watch the PWT Epix special...

She has great stage presence, lot of charisma, her vocals are good, not extraordinary but still good and they really shine durring the acoustic set. Her dancing is not even half as bad as some make it out to be, Roar, Walking On Air for example are great.

She easily outperforms Taylor, Rihanna, Miley, Ariana, Nicki, Brit(nowadays) and who knows what other irrelevant ATRL stans for.

It really pisses me off!

Katy is yet to match Gaga at her peak I agree but I went to both the artRAVE and the PRISMATIC World Tour last year (my first tours ) and Katy's was definitely the more diverse and entertaining of the two. artRAVE was like an all-night dance party but wasn't so much about having unique or special performances.

Despite not being a better performer, her shows are always more entertaining and enjoyable than a Gaga or Beyonce performance, as much as I venerate Beyonce and her life shows. Katy puts the best shows right now and PWT is easily one of the best pop shows of the decade, if not THE best.

With the exception of Beyoncé, the other three have all had big eras in 2014-2015 too.
