What deep house and eurodance songs have smashed in the US in 2013/2014 though? None. Even Calvin Harris' new deep house single is performing moderate at best in the US and it's a whole year on.
Sometimes fan-favourite album tracks are just that. Legendary Lovers was critically panned for the most part iirc. Of course that doesn't mean it would flop, but it's quite a different perspective to how pretty much all of the Kats consider it a standout on PRISM.
As much as we can say "can't believe she released Uncle/Birthday/TIHWD over LL/WOA", there's always a huge chance that those fan favourite songs would have performed not much better, or even worse.

no life me) and I thought about how very careful they'd need to be about the music video. She was already being surrounded by "cultural appropriation" allegations (don't get me started on how ridiculous some of them were) and if she did one thing wrong about that video
