Indeed. She almost definitely would have the media jump on her for turning on her fanbase, and then they would just hop on over to any forum/comment section and get the "scoop" that it's all because she "can't handle criticism".
Better for her to avoid the whole thing. Fans will get over it and come crawling back as soon as she is a success again. Fickle fans will be fickle fans.
