Bill, we have recently seen that certain artists (such as Katy Perry, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Adele, P!nk, Lady Gaga, and perhaps a few more that I'm forgetting) are able to easily achieve consecutive top ten hits. A few of them, especially Rihanna and Katy, have shown the potential to have 5-7 top 10 hits from one album.
My question is, when an artist of today has the opportunity to have 1.5 to 2 year massive eras like Thriller and Rhythm Nation 1814, should they:
A) Attempt to have a long string of big hits that could lead to large album sales and add to an artist's legacy
or
B) Keep the album era short and sweet, and release only 3-4 singles, to maintain a steady record for the album and to avoid any risk of overexposure?
