#50: Monsta X - Rush (Rush/2015)
last year: AlphaBAT - Ttantara
Genre: Rap
Language(s) - Korean
Monsta X will appear again in the countdown
Starting off my dance party is something you could definitely move to. Go figure, right? The reason this is so low is because a part of what determines what goes where is how much longevity a song has had in my listening habits, and I really haven't even known of this song for that long, as it was among my last few additions to my list this year.
Should I give this song a try?: You like a fun K-Pop song that isn't too cutesy? If you said yes, then go for it! The chorus in catchy, but it could be considered annoying to some.
#49: XO-IQ - Jing, Jing, Jingle (2015)
last year: Han Geng - Disregard
Genre: Dance Pop
Language(s) - English
XO-IQ will appear again in the countdown
Put on your best Santa hats and booty shorts, because this holiday song by breakout girl group from Nickelodeon's hit TV show "Make It Pop" are here to get you in the spirit of the season by getting you off your seats and making you dance around the Christmas tree. Another late addition to my list, it deserves its spot because it's one of the few holiday songs I'd listen to outside of the holiday season.
Should I give this song a try?: Are you TIRED of AIWFCIY? "Silent Night" too depressing for you? Did "Every Day Is a Holiday" not quite hit you in your generic pop g-spot? If you said yes to those, then PRESS PLAY YOU HO HO HO.
#48: Carishma - Keep Hangin' On (feat. Timbaland) (2012)
last year: Joe Jonas - Kleptomaniac
Genre: Dance Pop
Language(s) - English
Carishma's and Timbaland's last appearances in the countdown
So this isn't as late of an entry as the first 2 songs to appear, but it's older! The first song not from 2015, actually. The reason this song places so low is because I simply found myself forgetting it existed often. It's not bad or anything, it just doesn't do anything memorable. It's a fun dance pop song (that Timbaland produced...) and it fits right in the spirit of my countdown!
Should I give this song a try?: If you ever looked at the popular songs of recent years and nearly cried because you missed dance pop music so much, I would definitely tell you to listen to it! It'd help relieve the pain and let you delude yourself into believing that 2011 never left.
#47: Pia Mia - Fill Me In (feat. Austin Mahone) (2014)
last year: KORR-A - **** Me Like You Mean It
Genre: Pop/R&B
Language(s) - English
Pia Mia will appear again in the countdown; Austin Mahone's last appearance
This is actually among the earliest entries on my list (might be earliest, actually), but I grew tired of it by around March, which is why it is so low on my list. ANYWAY, this is actually the first cover song of the countdown, and I don't count covers unless I'd never heard the original. It's a cover of Craig Davis' song "Fill Me In", and after listening to his...I still prefer this version.
Should I give this song a try?: If you like R&B influenced pop songs, and ever wanted to give either Pia Mia or Austin Mahone a listen, then by all means go for it! It's actually a pretty cute song.
#46: Pia Mia - Do It Again (feat. Chris Brown and Tyga) (2015)
last year: U-Kiss - She's Mine
Genre: Pop/R&B
Language(s) - English
Pia Mia's and Tyga's last appearances on the countdown, Chris Brown will appear again
Wow Pia, get off the girls necks! Anyway, I actually like this song a fair bit, but I just don't find myself listening to it much. I do think it should've done better than it did in its run, especially with Chris and Tyga on the track...but whatever! It's a pretty solid Pop/R&B song and I'd imagine it'd be fun to blast in a car.
Should I give this song a try?: See above but replace Austin with Tyga/Chris Brown.
AND THAT'S IT FOR DAY ONE! Now let's move on to the Artist Highscores
1. Pia Mia - 9
2. Chris Brown/Tyga - 5
3. Austin Mahone - 4
4. Carishma/Timbaland - 3
5. XO-IQ - 2
6. Monsta X - 1
As you can see, Pia Mia has the lead for the day, but she'll never reclaim her crown after tomorrow as she has no more entries. However, the 2 bottom entries, as well as Chris Brown (who is tied for second) both have at least one more entry on the chart! Whatever this means for the High Scores, however, remains to be seen...you'll just have to stay tuned!
(oh, and sorry about the 1 hour lateness. I ended up preoccupied with something else!)
My second Dancefloor Spotlight will be K-Pop themed! These songs are definitely BOPS, but they simply didn't make my Year End.
Jimin n J.Don - GOD
Chart position - #xx
HOTSHOT - Take a Shot
Chart position - #xx
I'm going to be honest, these songs didn't make it simply because I made a list of songs that were preliminary choices for my year end, and I forgot to add these 2 to the list.
If I had to guess, GOD would've been Top 30, possibly Top 20. Take a Shot, on the other hand, would've been Top 20 or Top 15. How unprofessional of me, right? I just couldn't be asked redoing my formatting. They get their own spotlight, though!
( at me lying about my time AGAIN. I ended up going to the store, completely forgetting that I meant to post this @ noon)
GOD was on the cusp of making my best of like out of 55 songs on the shortlist it was #47/48 and I only had room for a top 30 and 16 honorable mentions
Let me make sure to bookmark this list for the bopz
I like the Kpop songs you've got so far!
skillzsong! ♥ You get a shout out somewhere in the list.
