They'll say yes, but then claim albums like Rebel heart, r8 , Ultraviolence and The Pinkprint were hits, go figure, welcome to atrl
Not even released
ARTPOP underperformed but it wasn't a total flop. (Lotus, Ciara albums, Rebel Heart, etc) If R8 will sell 2 millions WW or something similar it will be another underperforming album but not a flop.
it didn't flop, but it certainly underperformed considering it's only her 3rd studio album. however it further ruined her public image. as that one member prophesized, it was the 'continuation of her self destruction'
it got relased during the best sales season (in it's thrid week it got sicounted for Black Friday), had huge hype, enough promo and her name alone should hae been a given for a bigger success.
the music sucked, Gaga's meltdowns and Katy just overshadowed the album completly. And in the end, Beyonce stomped all over Artpop.
Artpop was declared a flop before it was even released, just by the performance of its first 2 singles. Funnily enough r8 which was meant to be huge can't outsell those 2 flops
No. She's on par with the other pop girls that released that year, that are considered a success. BEYONCE, Bangerz, Prism... It did underperform on Gaga's standards because she put the bar up so high. Funny how Gaga's "flop" is still better than a lot of artists out though
Coming from 2M in the US [?] & 7M WW to not even 800k in the US and 1.9M WW in the span of one album is a total and utter flop. Stop asking this question tbh bc the answer isn't going to change.
I'm pretty sure it sold about 2/3x more than Lotus which much bigger singles and higher tour gross tho?
Ultimate Flop isn't just a title given solely based on sales. It must be a flop by a main pop girl, who is hated and everyone minus the stans wants it to flop.

Really? Then what does that make the latest music releases of the majority of the artists ATRL stans for?
For her standards, it was. In general, no. It was just a underperformance.
Since when 2M sold from the album, a top 5 single (certified 2x platinum, more than 10 weeks on top 10, her biggest hit on radio so far), and a top 20 single, platinum (and without a music video release!) is a flop?
The only TRUE flop this era, for her standards + general was G.U.Y.. But the song had a great MV and good views, if this is something, lol.
So yeah, the era was far from a flop but we are talking about >Lady Gaga< and everyone expected her to slay everyone just like she always did in the past. But this time she was on par with some other girls and/or did less than some others, so that's why some people label the era as a "flop".

The lead single FFS has already outsold and charted higher than both of GaGa's first two singles
If you're going to compare pop stars to prove that one is better than the other then at least don't be wrong
