Yes, Gaga should be able to sell way more than 2.0 million copies. Her competition were Beyonce and Katy who have doubled her sales. Taylor is running out of competition.

Selling two million per se is not an awful result. But when you consider that Gaga is an artist that should appeal to huge masses, then 2 million is more than underwhelming, especially when it got released during the best selling season.

Well, it had massive promo and was extremely commercial/radio-friendly (according to gaga herself) yet it sold only 1.8m, while her peers were selling 3.5m-3.8m with much less effort

Let's NOT call Applause a hit. It did well but... totally forgettable. Also, as an popstar coming out of an previous big era it was A MUST to sell at least 2m ww, if she didn't it wouldn't be only a flop like it was but a massive flop.

I have all of Gaga's music and I can say it flopped. It's not like everyone involved went bankrupt or something tragic like that so fans should just accept that at least in the US it did.
