ATRL has done the absolute most in regards to the performance of Applause. The song is indeed proving that it will have longevity even though it won't be a #1.

It was just shocking to see the worlds biggest pop star perform so "poorly" with her debut single, and irritating to watch her biggest rival slag so effortlessly.

But I'm glad it's a hit now. Never doubt Gaga. Only she could make a song like Applause, with it's awkward lyrics and odd delivery, a success.

ATRL calls someone a flop way too soon. Applause is doing great. It may not do as well as BTW but it's still doing great. It has longevity. I persoanlly like the song, not to sure of how the GP feel about.

I find it funny that people actually believe Gaga is a flop. Didn't it take Rihannas Diamonds a while before it hit #1? I'm not implying that Applause will go #1 as well but that you guys should stop labeling a song a flop just because it hasn't hit #1 the first week. A #1 single doesn't determine whether your a flop or not.

Expectations were high for Gaga. Little Monsters were going on and on about how Gaga was coming back to embarrass our faves and how her media blackout has the made the GP miss her like crazy. Even her haters expected big first week numbers for her.

What made things worse is that she released the same week as Katy Perry and was expected to come out on top only to debut at number 3 on the digital sales chart, while Katy breezed to the top spot with more than double gagas sales.
