And for the thread: yes. ATRL was calling it a flop since day 3, when it didn't snatch the #1 spot from Katy. I mean, if calling a song a flop from day 3 isn't judging too fast then I don't know what is.

I think people were expecting something much bigger for a return from a messy era, and Applause didn't quite blow people back the way they had been expecting it to. Thus, it was labeled a flop right away and everyone started to tear it down. The song is under-performing but I think it's sorta growing on people now.

She was competing against too many people that were on GREAT terms with the gp.

Let's be honest, gaga could have did a remake of the alphabet song and it would be performing to similar numbers. Gaga has a strong fan base and is selling on her name and the heavy promotion. So all that combined with her absense, her numbers are definetly disappointing. She is definetly struggling right now. Its ashame cause the song is not the bad. Its just the weird accent and the lyrics that turn people off.

Applause is doing well, and many artists would love to have their songs be as successful. But this is Gaga we're talking about, the supposed new "Queen of Pop." She can't keep pulling whatever out of her ass and expect it to go #1 on name alone anymore. Applause was such a bad single choice.
