I was just looking at Britney's video run and noticed that she had almost 1,000 days on TRL, if she did come back with a song and lasted enough to pass 1,000 days would she be the first artist to do so?

If we're lucky, we might get a good video from Kelly Clarkson. Her good ones are Since You've Been Gone (her best video, and it didn't retire! What gives???) and Because of You. If shes getting another single, it better be a good video.

LMAO at people saying Clarkson has a bigger fanbase than Britney. You'll see.
We can't really count DS and Someday for Britney's history on TRL. Neither of those were official singles in the US, and she didn't promote them. She didn't even promote My Prerogative, for God's sake.
Back in 1999/2000/2001 Britney didn't hit the #1 as much as she did with her ITZ singles because of BSB and N'Sync. By that time, if you could get the top spot once against them, it was probably because there was a time of one or two days between one video retired and the other debut. I wish I could see all of these "new queens and kings" of TRL agains BSB and N'Sync back then.

Since U Been Gone didn't retire because TRL took off a lot of days for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years week.

Kelly Clarkson is the most successful artist right now when it comes to TRL. I dont think Britney has a chance.

Alright, this is a cool thread. First off yes Kelly has been successful the past 4 years, with her videos a bunch at #1 and crap.
Britney does good whether the damn song is a hit or not. As you may notice the whole era of 'Britney', all of the singles off that album flopped. Only 'Slave 4 U' charted and it flopped. But all the videos released retired. But you have to think a little. Britney took her break right smack in the summer of 2004, due to the knee thing. Got married in September, pregnant in January. So she didn't have much time to promote obviously. But downloads are a big thing now, if Kelly didn't have downloads helping her she wouldn't have seen all top 10 singles this past 2 years. Britney would've seen a lot more successful singles if downloads were available before Feb. 2005. 'Do Something' wasn't a US single and got like no airplay, but downloads helped it debuted. At #100, but still. Then 'Someday' was just whatever. So yeah.
Britney will come back strong, just because Kelly has pulled in over 80 days at #1 the past 2 years, she's not going to just become the queen of TRL. When Britney comes back, it will be crazy for anyone to have a successful video anymore.

I'm a Slave 4 U was a decent hit, it peaked at #35 and Overprotected was a flop, but it did chart peaking at #86 (If I'm not mistaken). Also, 2002 was a bad year for her and I believe it was due to the media trashing her. In 2002 female songwriters became big (Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and Vanessa Carlton) the media was calling them the alternative to Britney, the negative press could have hurt her?

Well, that has happened already. Britney's Me Against the Music beat Clarkson's The Trouble with Love is as well as Christina's The Voice Within. However, in 2004 Clarkson's Since U Been Gone charted higher than Britney's My Prerogative (for 8 days out of the 10 they shared on the countdown). Also, I believe Clarkson’s Miss Independent did better than Christina’s Fighter video. And I’m not talking about which video had more days at #1 or in the top 5, I’m talking about which video was mainly in a higher position for the days they shared on the countdown.

All of Clarkson's videos hit #1 except Trouble With Love Is... so the point stands that today on TRL - Kelly>Britney

But you see, when I say who'll do better I don't mean who'll be #1 the most or who will be in the top 3 the most, I'm talking about what video will have more votes. An example is Since U Been Gone beat My Prerogative because 10 of the days they shared on the countdown Kelly was in a higher position 8 days out of those 10.

That's not fair. MP was released in September, while SUBG was released around November. Plus, like I said before, Britney simply didn't care about her GH singles, while Kelly was promoting like hell her sophomore album.
And Fighter peaked 16 days at #1, against Miss Independent's 14 days on the top, in the end that's all that matter, who got more days at #1, not who got more days at Top 5 or whatsoever. Even so as far as I can remember Fighter was dominating the countdown until its 35-40th, when it started to chart lower than Top 3.

I'm A Slave 4 U peaked at #27 on the Billboard's Hot 100, and its video didn't do better because it was against N'Sync's Gone and BSB's Drowning.
Btw, all Britney's singles from "Britney" were boycotted by Clear Channel because she chose Pepsi over them to sponsor her tour.

That's funny, it also happened with the My Prerogative video, but nobody likes to remember that. TRL took a lot of breaks between 2004 and 2005, 80% of the fridays were off.
Like I said, I'd like to see Kelly against someone like BSB and N'SYnc were in the past and do as good as Britney and Christina were able to do. But I guess that won't happen anymore.

You mean on TRL right? Vocals...Brtiney as no chance in hell to sound amazing like Kelly sounds.
We just have to wait to see whats gonna happen in 2007. IMO Kelly is gonna have the most days at no.1.
