I wouldn't consider Lindsay a Disney star the same way as Hilary or Miley during their bigger eras... Linds was already stepping away from the Disney label by the time "Speak" came out.

Her single, "Rumors," went gold in digital sales, but not in physical sales. I think that could explain why "Rumors" failed to chart back then.

Lindsay was extremely popular in 2004, she was everywhere in the USA, the "it" girl of the moment and "next big thing" and not just Disney related.

She didn't have tons of promo for her singles though. Her promotion was mainly her name and everything associated with it, that's why the album had good sales. People were buying "Lindsay Lohan's new/debut album".

I'm not really familiar with her promo but I remember GMA, Ellen, AMA's, TRL, etc? but alright, her album sales still shock me though.

Yeah but I don't think xmas really effected it that much, it would've still sold 200k regardless.

Production on the album began in July 2004, while Lohan was getting ready to film her next Disney film, Herbie: Fully Loaded. When filming for Herbie began on August 4, Lohan had to write and record six of the twelve tracks in her trailer on the set of Herbie, since she had a deadline so the album could take in good sales in December during the Christmas period. Lohan would film from 5:00 AM to 12:30 AM and begin recording in her trailer from 12:30 AM to 2:00 AM, giving her only three hours of sleep.
Production on the album and the film were halted on October 21 when Lohan was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, reportedly for exhaustion and a high fever of 103 degrees. Lohan ended up having a kidney infection and was also in the middle of a family crisis when her father was arrested earlier that year. After staying in the hospital for six days, Lohan was released and returned to set to finish filming the film and recording her album. "I was over-scheduling myself," Lohan said in her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, "It's important to say no." Her album's original release date was in November, but was pushed back to December 7 to let Lohan finish recording her album after her hospital stay.

Yes but most of that happened during the actual/previous album release week, and not for the single's promotion. She promoted it around that time and that was it, the rest happened because of her name and other media appearances.

And unless I'm forgetting something, she was at the AMAs for her second album. But yea, her schedule (regarding her music) was actually MUCH lighter than other popstars like Hilary or Ashlee back then during album promo season.

Lindsay music is highly underrated.
