Celeb News: Rihanna creates ART through her music.

She’s been getting a great deal of flack lately for creating evocative videos that clearly refer to some of the struggles she’s had in her 23 years—namely, her abusive relationship with singer Chris Brown.
|
I honestly don't believe she's creating anything. When her videos like Rude Boy and S&M are called out for beeing copy/paste cases all you hear Rih fans blaming is the director but when "she makes" a great vid for once with WFL she gets the praise. Melina came up with the concept lets be real.

I like Rihanna and all for what she is, but I don't see how someone who generally doesn't write their own music could be "creating art." : / And yeah, her videos are artistic, but that's the video director, not her.

She CO-wrote 4 of the 11 tracks on the standard edition of TTT, and each time with the help of 3 other prominent songwriters. That is barely, if any, writing on something she calls her own.
She didn't produce or co-produce any of the tracks on the standard edition either. I know she was credited by some news source as the "executive producer" but she is not listed in the production credits otherwise.
Considering her history of writing camps writing her songs and A-list producers gathering to churn out hits, I don't expect minimal writing and producing credits here there that are supposedly the result of her input to change my opinion of her as one of the most manufactured artists in the industry today. And it certainly doesn't change my opinion that "her" music isn't really hers and therefore she isn't creating art when she's barely involved in the process.

Rihanna has never made "art"....she is a product of the art of others. Many, many others.

Let's just leave it at I'll say "We Found Love" has a message.
I've honestly never heard of her doing any charity, so I'm glad you shared.

Rihanna's music, aside from Rated R, doesn't really send out any sort of message.
She doesn't speak out about things she finds socially important and she doesn't do anything to have herself be considered a role model. I think those are two things that would be the last thing to interest Rihanna.
I'd like to see her do some charity work.
|
What was the Man Down video then? and she has SAID she doesn't want to be a role model because that would limit her in living her life and making the music that SHE wants to make. the author pointed it out in his article. do you have any reading comprehension skills??
and she DOES do charity work, she just doesn't do it so that the whole world knows. it's always kept quiet by the media for some reason. she has her own charity foundation, she's been involved with DKMS who help those with leukaemia among many other things. next time, research instead of assuming.

This proves how most of the atrls talk out of their asses. You have no idea what you are talking about and still leave a trash comment.

So which is true, the article in the OP, or this: http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2011/...ake-a-hit-song
Interesting that her fans mention MANDOWN as her art when the article specifically uses it as an example of pure commerce that she had absolutely nothing to do with.
Until now it was fun enjoying Rihanna for what she is: a product through which really fun songs are filtered. But lately, as you guys would say, her fans are "doing the most" trying to make her out to be SO MUCH more than what she is.

There's more to charity than being a Gay Rights Activist, but you tried it. She's spoken for the ACS, UNICEF, DKMS, Stand Up To Cancer, MusiCares, her foundation (Believe), The Red Cross, Feeding America, etc. Hell her ass just had a concert earlier this year and 100% of the proceeds went to the state of Alabama for tornado/storm relief.

Sis, it's not that. I genuinely never had noticed any of those things.
Good for Rih.

As harsh as it sounds, I agree.
I like her, but she's a singles artist with the strongest management in the industry. Yes, she is very commercially successful (minus touring), but that doesn't make her the most talented artist in the industry. When she can show the same level of raw talent as other pop stars like Lady Gaga and Beyonce, then I'll take back these words. Making great songs that are mostly auto tuned to shreds and written by others does not equate to you being the best.

Technically everyone's "making art."
Whether it's good, substantial & has an actual message that will resonate with the public is what divides these artists, and I personally don't think that Rihanna has done that with her 'audience.' (I say that because I think her non-online fanbase is fickle as hell and I don't know why)
Yes, she's put the effort towards being that type of artist, but it's not what the public perceives her as. She's fun & she'll go with the flow. Nothing too uplifting. People see something like "We Found Love" and "Man Down" and they aren't necessarily looking for the "deeper" meaning.

Seriously. The amount of delusion you have to do to think this way is ridiculous.
I liked Rihanna, and was warming up to the Navy when they were just about her being a fun pop artist. But y'all keep trying to make it seem like she's been giving deep, introspective, phophetic teas since Rated R and it's a ****ing joke.
