Something that's off with Halsey's story are her obviously cliche'd influences. She says she grew up listening to Biggie, Tupac, and Nirvana, but her music is more akin to P!ATD, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, etc., the real artists she grew up with. You can hear it in Lana's music but not in Halsey's (New Americana's sampled bridge doesn't count, it was a label decision!!!11).
yeah, there's something so desperate about the way she wants to define herself. she's the essence of a '90s kid without actually being a 90s kid'. these influences are accessorised for the sole purpose of making her look fashionable, which is what makes her so fraudulent.
