This might be a lost cause, because I've seen many discussions like this and really no one ever even attempts to listen to eachother and understand eachother. Anyway, one more post.
I said many times yesterday that I'm not saying that this girl (or anyone who says they're offended) has no right or reason to be offended. Sure, this sweater might seem innocent to us, but other people have different experiences in life and will therefore be offended by different things. There's lots of assumptions about this girl, but the fact is we don't know her life and we don't know whether or not she has good reasons to be offended. Assuming she doesn't have OCD or assuming she has no reason to be offended is an assumption you can't make. She could very well have a good reason. In the end, all she did was call them out on something. There's nothing wrong with that on its own.
The issue is that nowadays it is hard to filter out those who are legitimately offended from those who simply
want to be offended by everything. There's many instances where someone
doesn't have good reasons to be offended and still chooses to be, to get attention.
But I agree, we can't simply assume this girl is like that.
