Mess, you do know I have clinical depression, right? I know that's different than OCD, but I'm not offended when people make jokes related to that (or say things like "I'm gonna KMS") as long as they aren't mean spirited. This is a cute wordplay, nothing more. There wasn't actual discrimination going on here
I didn't mention the word offended. I can't say whether the jumper is offensive or not, only what I deem it as - I'm not offended because I don't have OCD. I do however think it's in bad taste, which it is.. it's a disability, mental illness, etc.
If the jumper read "blind people can't read this", it would still be in bad taste and offensive to those that are visually impaired.
I think that's a better comparison than cancer, which is a more severe issue. All of which are distasteful anyway, people just don't seem to think mental illnesses in general are serious because you more often than not can't actually see the effects.
^ Woman in the video can be heard speaking from experience and says it better than I ever could tbh. "Cute wordplay"?
Just because you're not offended doesn't mean anybody else doesn't have the right to be/won't be offended.
No, but just because Person Z is offended doesn't mean there's anything objectively offensive and wrong about the sweater. The world isn't here to cater to each and every person's specific feelings, half of which don't even align.
And honestly, if your biggest problem is being annoyed by a wordplay on a Christmas Sweater, I wish I had your issues.
