Anyone can speak against systematic oppression and it's not your place to tell them how they should feel.

There you go again living in the past and also living vicariously through your ancestors.
Black people in america are CURRENTLY not oppressed. They were many years ago but try to stay in 2015 darling. The muslims in myanmar are CURRENTLY being oppressed by the government and the people in myanmar. no one is saying you cant talk about oppression. Im saying you aint oppressed so stop acting like it because victimizing yourself aint cute. Es Claro?

The usage of the 'N' word is part of black culture and after all these years, if there is any group that should use the word, it is black people. It is the forefront because it is part of black language and that is the way it is. Black people should not have to give up the word to appease the privileged majority. Please have a seat.
Also no one is here for Oppression Olympics, so you can take several seats. The usage of #AllLivesMatter was used to take away from the message of #blacklivesmatter, a movement to that brings light onto an invisible community that is being killed by cops. Yes, we know other people get killed by cops - that is not the point here. There are a great number of black youth being killed by cops and the cops don't always get held accountable. It is a worthy cause to focus on.

1. Black language? do you mean african languages because clearly you dont mean african american vernacular ENGLISH. you have originated a couple of slang words hunty not the english language. and you certainly dont own the n word
2. There were plenty of ways nicki couldve articulated her point without dissing another celebrity and calling miley out of her name. She was an angry black woman because she was angry, she is black and she is a woman.
3. The black community isnt invisible. You guys are represented and people know of your struggles. Asian Americans are basically invisible and unrepresented. I will remain standing but please partake in the lovely seating decor after i post my comments. And police brutality is the issue and it solely doesnt affect black people. So while you ignore the latinos, whites and asians being killed by police, ill choose to focus on them

Being concerned is a choice YOU made.
Most black people (in the real world) could give two ***** less about white people using the N word.
And in 2015, almost everywhere black people exists in the US is racially diverse, and the word is used by mostly everyone who is a part of urban culture (which is not only black).
Choosing to be offended is really your own issue.

Don't give me the "You can't be racist to white people" That is some mythical ******** and you all know it.
If a black person says "That ****ing white bitch" It's NOT a problem and not racist.
But if a white person says, "That ****ing black bitch" then you guys want to make a big deal and have a 20 page discussion on ATRL about how all white people are racist and scum of the earth.
So many black people today have not even experienced a FRACTION of the racism and oppression that their ancestors experienced many years ago. The way people talk on this forum makes me think they've experienced slavery for themselves when I doubt anything has actually even happened to majority of them. They just like the benefits that come with it. "Oh are you saying that I can be a bitch towards white people and not get any flack and hide behind the excuse that I'm black and if you say something to me you're racist? YASSS"
That's honestly what this forum looks like 90% of the time.
I mean when you have a post that says "White people wonder why they can't use the word. Because you can't bitch. That's it."
You are the ones making this issue seem trivial and of no importance. As a black person, I find the way black people use the word but prohibit others from saying it to be extremely idiotic. I've never agreed with that logic and never will. Do you see white people calling other people white trash? Do you see hispanics calling each other wetbacks? No. So why do black people have to call each other a word that was created in a demeaning manner? This is why black people continue to find it so hard to be accepted. Always pulling illogical **** like this and blaming other people.

THANK YOU

This is what I don't get. I think it's because when you're a white person you expect every door to be open, but when you're told you can't have access to something it is mind blowing.

If youre offended over the n word then maybe black culture shouldnt have it at the forefront, you know, using it as a term of endearment to one another if it "hurts" them so bad
White washing is an issue, you are correct.
Nicki used her race to get what she wanted and failed. She threw shade at taylor and miley and when both called her out, she 1. threw out the race card at taylor and 2. called miley a bitch. If she truly wanted the world to know of the imbalance in the industry shouldnt have insulted and called out celebrities that had nothing to do with her message. it became Nicki vs Taylor because of the shade she threw in her tweets rather than nicki calls out racist industry. but i digress, her intentions were for personal gain, not for the black community especially when people of color dominated the VMA Video of the year award category
All lives do matter. Blacks arent the only ones dying by the cops.
You cry so much about systematic oppression, why dont you try being a Rohingya muslim in Myanmar? You dont know true oppression. youre just weak
Are we done? I think we are done, now close your mouth

the dreadlocks stereotype is in fact racist, zendaya didn't look like a hippie or anything, it was just a hairstyle. and her rant was based on the fact that some people can't even get jobs bc they have dreadlocks, or they're usually labeled as thugs or suspicious under the police eyes, even tho there's nothing wrong with them or they're not doing anything wrong at all.
amandla is just a teen, and the guy called her a "jackhole" on tv just bc she expressed her views on a social network, and again her "rant" was about how people praise kylie for originality, when in fact black people have been doing it for years and it's usually frowned upon.
nicki might have felt discriminated, and she just spoke her mind about the issue.
and we're not checking privilege here or who has it worse, my reply was based on the comment that said that "this is a little issue", so i used other "little issues" as example and asked what are those bigger issues that he's talking about

Exactly how are black people oppressed? Any examples? Btw, things not being 100% equal is not synonymous with being oppressed. By that standard, every non straight-white-male aged 18-50 would be "oppressed".
I'm so tired of ATRL and this victim-ass attitude being "in". If you life is a ****ing mess, that's on YOU, so speak for yourself. I'm black and my life is amazing, so please quit trying to tell me I'm oppressed.
Get off the plantation.

Not slavery being the threshold of racism, only confirming the notion that many people today still think racism is restricted to the KKK and whips

The irony of you not realizing that the Black Lives Matters movement is a fringe one, at least in the sense that most black people only pay attention to it on the news and aren't attached or involved in any way.
Time for some fresh air.

I love it when white people drop the word slavery and talk about our ancestors to try to pull this "you were't a slave so racism is over - everything ok" BS.

Now that's truly a sad thing to hear and I actually will go and research their oppression but I'm pretty sure this thread has nothing to do with the people of Myanmar dear.
Oppression does not always have to be so outright as i'm assuming you think for it to be ?
