But Def Jam makes up the shortfall by releasing other singles. And only then— if the label recoups what it spent on the album — will Rihanna herself get paid.



Why o why did they use Rihanna Def Scam as a prime example? Maybe they know something. Thats why her singles sales are lacking when compared to Katy Perry despite have high airplay.

I agree if the noms were based on pure quality most of the mainstream artists wouldn't even be there. Is partly a popularity contest. They obviously need the ratings of celebs.
