So in other words, Britney slayed the albums but always DECLINED. She peaked with her first damn album and was on constant decline from there. Her singles weren't successful in the US sales-wise and were very short-lived except for her collaboration with Rihanna and her collaboration with will.i.am. Most of her T10s didn't even hit 1x platinum.
TAYLOR on the other hand...
TS: #5, 5x plat, 6M WW
Fearless: #1, 6x plat, 9M WW
SN: #1, 4x plat, 6M WW
Red: #1, 4x plat, 6M WW
1989: #1, 1x plat, 1M WW (after one week already as big as Britney's Femme Fatale)
Singles wise?
TM is plat (#40), TOMG is 3x plat (#13), OS is 4x plat (#16), PTB is 2x plat (#28), SSN is plat (#33), WH is 2x plat (#13), Fifteen is 2x plat (#23), Mean is 3x plat (#11), TSOU is plat (#41), SF is plat (#17), Ours is plat (#13), S&S is 2x plat (#30), EO is plat (#19), Ronan is gold (#16), 22 is 2x plat (#20), HDC is 2x plat (#22), EHC is plat (#32).
Change: #10, gold
Love Story: #4, 7x plat
YBWM: #2, 6x plat
Fearlesss: #9, plat
TWAF: #2, plat
Mine: #3, 3x plat
BTD: #6, 2x plat
WANEGBT: #1, 5x plat
BA: #7, plat
IKYWT: #2, 5x plat
Red: #6, plat
SIO: #1, 2x plat
I'm not even going to go into her features and promo singles
Obviously Taylor has had a WAY more successful career singles-wise and has maintained steady album sales into album 5 whereas Britney fell off on her third album and after that started seeing extremely sharp declines.
|
To be fair, Britney was blacklisted from radio in her Britney era and it put a major dent in her singles during that era. Its crazy that singles like Slave 4 U are still iconic with zero radio support though

The monsters are really ruining this joyous moment. It's ok though both Taylor and Britney have their records and written pop history meanwhile the monsters are a dying breed anyway

What else are they going to use as shade? Britney, even her name alone, is untouchable.

yes, i'm sure that's it. i'm sure you're a perfectly rational person and that's definitely not an excuse to insult artists for fun. totally.

Taylor's total = 28M WW.
That means she hasn't outsold BOMT yet.

Why are u even bringing up singles when Britney was notoriously blacklisted by Clear Channel from 2001 to 2004, and albums sold more than singles back in the day? And FYI, all FF singles (Criminal aside) went Platinum @ least once.
But hey, continue being bitter and discrediting a bona fide icon who left a bigger mark than others ever will.

also that one post up there that i don't feel like finding and quoting, till the world ends has sold over 2 million even if it's not certified, the RIAA is a mess with their certifications and certifies certain songs and not others

Comparing 3 and a half country albums released 2008-2012 to a pop album released in 2002.
Some Britney fans just don't get it

I'm just laughing at the desperation. Britney Jean has nothing to do with the record-breaking albums Oops!... I Did It Again and 1989, but I guess if mentioning it in this thread makes them feel better...

Not to mention Britney's image completely changed from Britney to In The Zone and she was still able to sell very well. Taylor's image has remained relatively consistent, so it makes sense that her fan base would remain stable.

And why would you need to shade her? Oh yes, you're pressed your fave didn't break her record, gurl, carry on. No need to shade other artists.
