It's a marketing issue. When Interscope launched Lady Gaga, she was targeted and positioned to a party-going public. JD, PF and LG all catered to that market and that market made her successful. BTW (and TFM, to a lessor degree) moved away from that market and it tarnished her brand.
In the end, the music industry is just that, an industry. If there's money involved, the people who invest in her are going to take action.

TFM is about sex/love and partying. TF was mainly about sex/love, partying, and fame/money.
This is what sold.

Eh. It is what it is. TEOG and MTN are still my favorite Gaga songs.
I think HML will come next, then end of era, then new EP in November.

And exactly why it is wrong. Why should smashing be the most important part of an artist's music?
All of the best releases this year have been from underground acts, PJ Harvey, Bon Iver, The Decemberists, St. Vincent etc.
Is the music itself not therefore the most important thing?
|
I agree with you. But some stans always demand the receipts of success of other artists instead of just enjoying the music, sooooooo smashing is kind of important too.

That's show business.
If she didn't care about commercial success, she would've never left the dive bars on the Lower East Side.

Bloody Mary, GH, EC would be a waste of time and money as a single.

Hair will sell if it happens to be released. It is one of the only fun songs on the album.

How dare you come for TEOG like that drag MTN all you want but TEOG is perfect

And besides Madonna flopped hard with Erotica and everyone thought she was done. She then came back with Bedtime Stories and regained fame

We're in totally different eras of music.
Do you really think Gaga putting a complex pop album like Bedtime Stories will save her?
She has never released a Ballad.

And for the people that saying people can't relate with "Marry the Night", you are right. I'm sure more than half of the general public doesn't even understand the lyrics.

She'll be fine with her next album. Its already been known that shes making music on her next album that is "more for everyone." Nicole can confirm that for ya.
Rihanna made a comeback after Rated R which did miles worse than Born This Way. She'll make a nice revival with her next effort as long as its caters more to the public and radio like Loud did for RiRi.

She was refreshing but I don't know what I think about her anymore.
She's the perfect example of a marmite popstar, you either love or hate her.

What are you talking about? As someone who has been with Gaga for a while (beginning), she went from being 'why isn't she famous' to 'talentless one hit wonder' overnight. People keep wanting to romanticize The Fame, but forget what people were saying about her then. It is fresh in mind.

Basically.
I don't understand why the monsters are trying to pass off the entire
"Born This Way" album as some non-radio friendly, "off-the-path"
indie album. It's a dance album that the public simply didn't
connect with. No one connected with the album or singles.
Simple as that. 2012, here we come.

I'm talking in MUSICAL terms! She will be bashed because she's backtracking from her supposed evolution.
But who knows, maybe people (general public) will embrace a more commercial approach?
