Ryan: My pleasure! The last time we talked, “Coven de Couture” was just being released and now three weeks after its release, it has gone platinum…Natalia your song has sold over 1,000,000 copies and not only that, your 2 week old album, “The Definition of Bad” has also gone platinum and has sold over 1,000,000 copies…how does this all feel for you?
Natalia: I mean, the truth is that it is extremely mind-blowing. I couldn’t tell you how I feel because honestly, words just cannot describe it but it honestly feels really amazing.
Ryan: And your keeping your words on your promise. You said that as soon as Coven went platinum, you’ll be releasing a new single, isn’t that right?
Natalia: Absolutely true!
Ryan: Well, tell us about it.
Natalia: Well, my new single “Eyes Shut” was released today. You are all familiar with it by now. If you bought the album or even if you heard it somewhere because I mean, it was a promotional single. And I told my fans prior to time, I told them that I would be releasing 2 songs and the one that did better would be the new single well, Eyes Shut did better on the charts and I’m keeping my words with my fans and making it the new single. I’m actually really proud of this song. I wrote it in a very very dark time but it has grown to be such a strong and powerful song. I am absoultelky in love with this song and I cannot wait to see what happens with it. I’m excited for what’s to come!
Ryan: And you say that the song is about real-life experiences?
Natalia: Exactly! It’s a real song about real things that happened and that really adds to the power that this song has because I actually underwent everything I sing about in the song. It’s such a powerful song. Especially for me! I absolutely love it!

NATALIA KILLS TALKS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND BETRAYAL ON CNN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. PERFORMS EYES SHUT and WOUNDED FIST

“Last week I got a phone call. My girlfriend called me to tell me about her friend whose husband flogged her…with a cane! But before I begin, let me introduce myself! My name is Natalia Kills and I am a singer-songwriter but first and foremost, I am a woman and a wife! I know what it feels like to live in a world where woman is always seen as less important, where we are scorned for being the weaker sex, where we are not allowed to talk in social gathering because “the men are talking”. I have been there one too many times and even in my business now, I still get called out many times because of my gender. People still have the audacity to ask stupid, rude, and offensive questions. Things like “Do you ever think you can reach M J status as a woman, please, leave it for the men” or “A guy grabs his crotch and you have the audacity to do so yourself?”. Things like this have been said for years! For many years by people who have nothing to their name and have only the fact that “I am a man” above you! What’s worse and what makes me even sadder to see is when these men then use their hands to hit us! To beat us, to make us feel like we do not matter and they are forever stronger meanwhile when they are in the midst of their own men, they are nothing but sad little puppies! They subject women to all sorts of barbaric acts and acts of violence knowing fully well that we have little or no physical power to over power them. Well, I say enough is enough! If you have to take a class in Martial Arts, do that! If you have to hit the gym more than you are doing now just to show these people that you are in fact not a punching bag, then go ahead and do that! I am not saying that you should beat anybody but you should be able to defend yourself in a moment of altercation! As I opened and as I was saying, my girlfriend told me about her friend who was being flogged by her boyfriend…not her husband, not her fiancé, her boyfriend…a man that has not even had the balls to pop the question moreso put a ring on her finger! What right does he have! What right does this person have to put his hands on me? And the more pressing question , why should I allow it? “ I speak today and even if just one person listens to me, I’m fine! We need to stop domestic violence. We need to take more pride in ourselves and not let our lives or actions be dictated by men! Take charge of your own life and do what feels right to you”.
Natalia later left the podium for the rest of the speakers to address the crowd before coming back towards the end of the show for a powerful performance of Eyes Shut and Wounded Fist.
Natalia sang both songs wearing her blazer and pants and she stood in one place to sing it. It was powerfully sung and there were no gimmicks in the performance, just Natalia and her microphone. In between the song, numerous people especially women in the audience began to cry because of the overwhelming nature of both songs. Natalia stepped down after singing both songs and left.
Critics called the performance a “once in a lifetime spectacle” and “a graceful and powerful way to perform such a song”.
Natalia Kills meanwhile is still on “The Definition of Bad World Tour” and in the midst of promoting her now platinum album, “The Definition of Bad”.

Clare was supposed to perform on 17th I think, or at least that's how I imagine it all working since you booked SNl on 11th, but she didn't so I assumed you were not going to post the SNL article, and I just booked SNL for Zendaya this week, as in 24th.

Okay, so let me get this right. We get 90 points, -15 for our artists, and we really only spend our points on releasing/touring? 
Is that right?
And we most certainly can't perform on regional specific shows such as The Voice Australia EVEN if we're not abusing the rule and using really floppy countries for performing?

Yeah- ideally it would've been the 17th, but either way it would've counted for this week's promo list so that's good.

Cara Delevingne performs on Canada's Got Talent

Cara Delevingne is currently in Canada for the next leg of her tour, which is in North America. Her tour has already finished the first of multiple Asian legs when she did stadiums in Tokyo, Beinjing, Hong Kong and Dubai, and now flew all the way to Canada where she is performing the next date of her tour in Toronto. After an arrival during which Cara wore a light green long dress and was welcomed by numerous screams and adoring cheers by the hundreds of fans who were waiting for her at the airport, Cara head right to her hotel before she went to the Canada's Got Talent studios for her performance.
Cara first signed a few autographs on her arrival wearing a Fendi dress with pink fur covered heels from Fendi as well. She went into the studio for her outfit change prior to the performance.
Cara was first introduced by a video which showed all Cara's achievements, from being a model to an actress and singer, her sales and tour gross and her video views and awards, and she also got presented by the host: "Now live with us is Cara Delevingne singing her brand new hit single 'Honey', featured on the album 'Distant Horizon'!"
Cara then appeared in the middle of the stage inside a large glass pyramid shape within which many lights were passing through and gave an interesting effect due to the different colors used. Cara started singing the first few lyrics of the 'Honey' while dancing slowly and simplistically inside of the glass shape along with two dancers inside and 4 on each of her sides outside of the shape. As the beat got faster nearing the chorus, Cara started dancing faster in a more wild way and the moment the chorus started she stopped dancing and advanced out of the pyramid as the front side of the pyramid lowered itself and let her out. The performance went on regularly as Cara danced the choreography while the lights went wild. The crowd was very excited to see Cara as it has been over a year since Cara's last performance in the country. Cara Delevingne then did a dance breakdown with the dancers which ended very near the judge's tables. At the end of the song and performance, Cara went all the way back to the pyramid shaped glass box along with all the dancers, stood in it looking at the crowd as the opened up side closed back up and Cara then closed her eyes. After the loud crowd started screaming, Cara got out once again from the glass pyramid to answer a few questions which were asked to her by the host to end her appearance.
After the performance, 'Honey' went back to number #1 on ITunes in Canada and got even higher in the US and a few other territories. Cara Delevingne's 'Honey' is now available on ITunes and is featured on Cara's album 'Distant Horizon' just like the other smash hit 'La Belle'.

Cara performs at the JUNO Awards

Cara Delevingne made an appearance at the JUNO awards last night which is one of the stops from her tour, as she starts off the North American Leg of her tour the 'Distant World Tour' which starts off in Canada. Cara made an appearance at the awards for both a performance and receiving some awards, which she was nominated in. Cara arrived on the red carpet along with her current girlfriend Kendall Jenner and both kissing on the red carpet and in multiple pictures brought in some attention to both of them as they are big celebrities. Cara's red carpet look was beautiful, she wore a blue strapless dress created by Gucci which was very simple until it reached the lower half of her leg where the dress started getting bigger and bigger. A golden detail was all around the top of her dress and she also had a golden simplistic and metallic belt around her waist and she also had with her a golden small Alexander McQueen clutch and golden Christian Louboutin pumps. Cara won a few awards and presented a few herself. Among her wins was the Best International artist award along a few others such as Best International single for 'La Belle' and Best international album for 'Distant Horizon'.
After winning a few awards and presenting some, it was time for Cara's performance, which was the closing performance of the show. Cara Delevingne's performance started by showing her standing at the middle of the stage inside of a dark room recreated. Cara was laying on a large luxurious, modern black bed wearing a lace bikini by Victoria's Secret along with simple very high black heeled boots from Victoria's Secret as well which were custom made ofr her. Cara started singing the first few notes from 'Honey'. Cara moved around the bed touching herself and doing very explicit movements. The performance looked like a recreation of Madonna's Like a Virgin performance at the Blond Ambition tour which is famous for nearly getting Madonna in jail in Canada. Cara's leotard definitely looked like a modernized version of the cone bra. During the whole performance, Cara was just imitating masturbation and dancing slowly around to the very sensual song. During the breakdown, the lights started shooting some impressive flashes all around Cara while Cara went wild all by herself on the huge bed while the crowd was screaming. The performance ended with all the lights turning off and Cara producing an orgasm sound.
After the performance, Cara went to the press room along with Kendall and both answered the press' question and Cara confirmed that the performance was a Madonna tribute. This isn't the first time Cara wore an outfit similar to the cone bra, she wore the Madonna look to a Tegan & Sarah birthday party inspired by the 90s back in 2013. Cara Delevingne's new hit single 'Honey' is now available and is featured on the new Cara Delevingne album 'Distant Horizon'. The album also features the smash hit single 'La Belle' which peaked at the second position on the charts.

Part of the promotional campaign Cara is having in Canada to promote her single 'Honey' which is featured on her album 'Distant Horizon', Cara Delevingne appeared on the biggest Canadian Radio station CBC Radio One who has been constantly playing Cara's music on repeat ever since the release of 'Distant Horizon', which is Cara's sophomore album released only a few weeks ago to critical acclaim. Cara answered questions concerning multiple topics such as family, love, music and more but one very important topic during the conversation between her and the host was the '50 Shades of Grey' soundtrack cara was doing through a re-edition of her album 'Distant Horizon', which will apparently be out near the time the movie is out, and the movie itself will also feature songs from both the original version of 'Distant Horizon' and the re-edition which will be released soon, as Cara said.
Host: We now have live on the air with us the one and only Cara Delevingne! Tell us Cara how life has been lately?
Cara: Stressful but nice actually. I am on tour which is a lot of work but I'm still promoting a lot and I'm doing new music, all of this combined makes me stressed but happy at the same time because that's jsut what I want to do and I want to make everything just great.
Host: Speaking of new music, you apparently are doing the 50 Shades of Grey Soundtrack?
Cara: Yeah, I've been hinting about it lately and now I can confirm it. Basically I've been working on all this new music and the soundtrack is set to be released near the release date of the movie itself.
Host: And it's a re-release of 'Distant Horizon' your current album right?
Cara: Yes and it will be sold with it, it will be packaged with it. It's an extended 'Distant Horizon'. All of the new songs are about sex or relate to the movie. I've worked on it for some time now and it's nice to see how it's going. I'm actually really excited for some of the songs. There's also one which Zendaya wrote on, or actually wrote most of it. It's somewhere between a ballad and a mid-tempo and I'd say it's more like a break-up song. I wouldn't want to spoil the ending of the first book and movie but it sort of is similar to a break-up. Which is where the song fits.
Host: So the soundtrack follows the storyline?
Cara: In some way yes but in others it remains somewhat independent.
Host: So tell us about your own love life Cara.
Cara: Well everything is really great because Kendall got to meet my own family while we were in the UK a few days ago and it all went well. My parents knew about the relationship but they only met Kendall those few days ago.
Host: Have you ever considered getting married or anything? How do you see yourself in a few years?
Cara: Well I'm still very young, I sort of want to explore and do so many things before I get married. It's a possibility actually but I don't want to do anything too fast you know? And in a few years, I want to see myself having like a few more albums out and having a Greatest Hits album along with a major world tour which would be as big as the Distant World Tour.

After appearing at the CNN Campaign for Change and talking about domestic violence in front of top names in politics, business, and media, Natalia Kills has gathered attention from a lot of senatorial attention and attention from big leagues. In the heat and after effect of the speech, Oprah insisted on having a talk with Miss Kills and being one of the first people to get the inside scoop on this woman, Natalia Kills.
Oprah: Our guest today is somebody that has made a name for herself in music selling over 3,000,000 units in albums and singles combined. But yesterday, she showed us a more political side to herself and it has everybody, from the White House to people in the streets talking…here with us is Natalia Kills.
Natalia Welcome!
Natalia: Thank you so much. It is more than an honor to be speaking with you
Oprah: I want to just talk about the powerful speech you gave yesterday at the CNN Campaign. Powerful is too small a word to describe the words that you said and those words have resonated with a very huge pool of people. So, the first question I want to ask you is…have you been a victim of domestic violence?
Natalia: No, I have never been a victim of domestic violence personally but I have watched a number of people I love undergo the pains and troubles of domestic violence.
Oprah: People like who?
Natalia: My mum.
Oprah: Your mum?
Natalia: Yes, my mother. After my daddy had gotten locked up, my mother and I, we had nowhere to go. We were broke, we were starving and in the midst of all of that craziness, a “friend” **air quotes** came to give us a helping hand. I honestly thought it was innocent then again, I was what? 14??
Oprah: Everything’s innocent at 14
Natalia: Exactly, so I didn’t really understand like all the physics and politics of what was going on. Anyway, fast forward into some months later, we were living lavish again but not with daddy, with this new man and I remember on numerous occasions, I would see my mum’s face all swollen and red but I didn’t quite understand what it was. I would ask her but she would always tell me it’s nothing or give some excuse to cover up the topic. I knew something wasn’t right about the whole thing.
**Oprah Narrates**
14 year old Natalia knew that something was going on in her household but she didn’t know what ! She assumed that her mother was just stressed or just clumsy. What she didn’t anticipate was the horror that laid ahead.
Oprah: So tell us what happened.
Natalia: So I didn’t really see anything and everything just went on as usual, dinner, going out, travelling…all those kind of things. Then one night, my mum had kissed me good night and she had switched off my lights but I just couldn’t sleep that night, I’ve forgotten the reason why but then I got up and I decided to go and meet my mum in her room and as I opened the door, what I saw shocked the bones out of me!
Oprah: What did you see?
Natalia: My mum was on the ground with ducktape around her mouth tears in her eyes.
Oprah: Oh my God!!
Natalia: He held a large whip! Really large and he was sweating and he looked so angry. I have never been more scared in my life.
Oprah: What did you do??
Natalia: I ran Oprah! I ran as fast as I could and as far as I could. I remember I heard his footsteps behind me and I just ran! It was a truly traumatic time in my life.
Oprah: But you got out alive and look at you now!
Natalia: It’s honestly a miracle.
Oprah: So what happened with your mother, and the mad man?
Natalia: I eventually told the police about it and after a thorough investigation, they locked him up. My mother was really scared, but she was also grateful I did what I did. I didn’t really get to speak to her as much after the incidence because I flew down here to the states a couple of weeks later but she’s fine. I go to the UK time to time to check on her and she is fine.
Oprah: Wow! What a story! And your new single “Eyes Shut” talks about it?
Natalia: It does, in detail. Actually Eyes Shut AND Wounded Fist! They go hand in hand in the telling of the story. It’s just a really really personal song.

Numerous people around the world are attesting to the fact that they only had the strength to speak about what happened after Natalia Kills shared her own story on Oprah. 95% of the people who posted their own stories also said that Natalia Kills’ new single “Eyes Shut” and her album track “Wounded Fist” helped them a lot in the process of healing and telling their story. They call the song life changing and a miracle to any domestic violence victim.
Natalia Kills has been very vocal about her hatred towards the domestic violence menace and issued a statement with the launch of the website. It reads:
“Many people, women especially, are suffering one form or another of domestic violence. People living with such issues need a channel, a voice, and this website is that voice I’m giving to you. So far, victims from China, Afghanistan, Canada, The United States, Mali, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Sao Paulo, Mexico, France, Trinidad and Tobago, The United Kingdom, and more have posted their stories.
Some of the victims who have posted their stories have also gone along to create Kickstarters, and other campaigns to raise funds against domestic violence and many have pleaded that Natalia be the face of the movement. Right now, Natalia Kills is still on tour promoting her top 3 platinum critically acclaimed album “The Definition of Bad”.

Cara on Behind The Music

Cara Delevingne is on a large scale worldwide promotional tour for her brand new album 'Distant Horizon' which has already gone platinum within the first 2 weeks and peaked at #2 (so Far)and has been promoted by the hit single 'La Belle' (also another #2 peak) and the newly released 'Honey' which reached the fourth spot on the charts but is set to reach a new peak this following week through all of the promotion she is doing for it.
To further promote the album and her singles, Cara Delevingne appeared on VH1 Storytellers to sing a couple of songs along with the documentary which aired which yalked about her successes and the difficulties she had to surpass.
The show started off with the documentary. Cara talks about her early life in a few short commentaries, growing up, her relationship with her sisters and her parents and going to school. She then moves on to starting her modeling career before finally talking about her musical career: "I always had in mind of doing something in music. When I was younger I took piano lessons which I ended fast enough because of a few private issues. I seriously thought about the career only in early 2013. I started getitng singing classes and ameliorated my voice and it's range. I made everything I could do get better. In May 2013 I met Elof Loelv, Icona Pop's producer and we did a few demos together and I performed at a few of his private DJ sets. My label's CEO was looking for brand new artist and thought that not only I had enough exposure due to my modeling career, he also thought I was a great performer and amazing entertainer and that made so happy. I signed to Variety Records just a few days later and started working on my debut album with Elof Loelv and a few other people. "
Cara then started talking about the creation of her debut album which ended up being self-titled. Clips and pictures of her working on 'CARA' were shown including a clip of her recording 'Magazine' which would end up being a #1 single. Cara then moved on to 2014: "2014 was a tough year for me. I was supposed to record another song with Rihanna which was even posted on ITunes for a few brief minutes but I took it off because my label knew this wasn't the direction I had to go with the sound of the song and that I wasn't happy with the end result. Rihanna remained my main inspiration for the album. But instead of being a very pop with EDM influences song, it was more of the Urban Rihanna. I ended up working with producers she had introduced me to including Giorgio Tuinfort who produced some of her songs." Following her commentary, Cara showed clips of the creation of the album which were more detailed then the simple 'CARA' clips shown.
Following the small documentary, two Cara Delevingne performances filmed for the episode at G-A-Y, a nightclub in London in the UK, for which she wore a black leotard with kimono like long and large sleeves while the dancers wore similar outfits but in a light pink color. The performances were the performances of her singles 'La Belle' and 'Honey' both which were impressive performances for a venue such as this nightclub. Cara Delevingne managed to impress the crowd and the viewers. Cara Delevingne's album 'Distant Horizon' is now available for purchase and her singles 'La Belle' and 'Honey' are also available for purchase but for streaming as well on Youtube, Spotify and other streaming services.

Cara Delevingne performed last night the fifth date of the 'Distant World Tour' which seems like it's going to be one of the most successful tours this year, as Cara is effortlessly selling out stadiums all around the world. The concert was held at Toronto's Rogers Center, and was opened by a set by fellow label mate Ryn Weaver who performed all four songs which were included on her Promises EP. Cara's performance was impressive and beautiful, Cara having impressed the crowd with her vocals which have been getting better and better every night, with her dance moves due to the heavily choreographed performances throughout the night for all the different songs, the theatrics, as the stage was just beautiful with it's depiction of a palace merging a classic or Antique aspect with modern aspects or visuals, and was compared to a modern version of Kylie Minogue's own stage during her Les Folies Tour back in 2011. The concerts was held in 4 acts and showed a stage that looked like a cavern opening with gigantic rock walls all around the stage with some precious gems encrusted in it and a screen behind the rocks. The show was amazing. New dates were announced by Cara herself and more will soon be added.

Azealia on GMA
To promote the newly released single Fly, featuring Childish Gambino, Azealia Banks appeared on Good Morning America where she performed the hit song along with the feature artist Childish Gambino. The song was performed on the program and along with that, Azealia did an interview with the hosts of GMA where she continued to discuss the beauty of Fly and the meaning. She talked about the meaning of Fly, the meaning of The Dying Stars, and what is to come this week in the world of Azealia Banks. Fly was just released yesterday as the second single off of The Dying Stars by being sent to radio stations around the world to be played nonstop. So far, the single has seen great success on iTunes as well as on radio where it has remained in the top three on both areas of success. Azealia Banks talked about the release of Fly and the decision to release it as a single over the other songs off of the album and why she felt that it is more worthy of being released to the general public. Azealia spoke to Billboard about all of this by saying the following "Fly is a good song. It is a damn good song and I am more than happy to share it with the world by showing how great it is and show my talent through my song. Me and Glover are both hard working individuals who put a lot of effort into this piece and I'm so happy to share it with everyone. I felt it deserved to be a single since we first recorded the song. I just knew it had to happen and it did. I'm so thankful for that, honestly. Me and my label finished the song back in December and we just said 'Yes. We're releasing this' it's not that it's better than the other songs, it's just more fun and flavorful, you know?"
During the performance of Fly on Good Morning America, Azealia was wearing a Valentino whimsical looking dress that was made of chiffon fabric and dyed a light baby blue color. Azealia had a white braided rope wrapping around her waist and white matching braided heels on her feet. Azealia's hair was long, navy blue, and curly. There was a white braided band that went over her head, pulling the hair away from her face. Azealia's makeup was done very very professionally and had colors of white, blue, and pink in a powdered form blown out and coloring her face extravagantly. Azealia looked as if she were stepping straight out of the icy lands of Antarctica. The stage was covered in an icy/windy look. At the beginning of the performance, you see a male and female ice skater on an ice rink, which is the stage. A symphony plays as the two of them dance, spin, and do jumps on the floor. They're seen wearing skin tight blue and white bodysuits and painting blue. The girl jumps into the man's arms as he lifts her above his head. The instrumental of Fly then begins and Azealia is seen flying from the top of the stage, attached by wires. Her hair and dress is flying and flowing beautifully with her movement. She has a head mic attached to her and is seen singing as she flys over the ice rink. Azealia then lands on a small 8x8 circular stage colored white. She stands there throughout the performance as the audience cheers and listens to Azealia sing and watches the dancers skate on the other end of the stage. Childish Gambino flys in wearing a white and blue suit and lands with Azealia where the two of them finish out the song and do a bow as the audience cheers.
During the interview, when Azealia was asked about the meaning of Fly, she said the following about the song "Fly has much more meaning than those think. Fly is a beautiful song about your flight through life and how one will miss all that happens if you continue to just go through life without thinking about what goes around you in the universe. You're missing out on a lot" When asked about The Dying Stars Azealia said "This is my latest album. I'm so happy with the success of it and I hope it can continue. EMMYs
In celebration for Nashville receiving several EMMY nominations for the evening- a performance for the cast was granted. After much talk with Big Machine executives and cast, it was determined that Clare Bowen would sing the #1 Nashville track, which has now become her personal debut single- “Black Roses”. Although many folks have seen the young starlet perform the song multiple times on the show, and on other radio stations / television shows- this would be Bowen’s first at an award show- one for which she was extremely excited for. Prior to the performance, “Black Roses” conquered the Country iTunes chart at #2, while placing at #43 on the Overall iTunes chart. It has been gaining momentum on radio too, as many different formats (HAC, AC, Pop, etc.), especially Country have been spinning the track progressively. Backstage, before going on the stage, Bowen was interviewed by multiple outlets such as- Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood.
Interviewer /// “Clare! How does it feel to be performing at the EMMYs tonight?”
Clare /// “I’m really honored that the show selected me to perform ‘Black Roses’, and I’m very excited to get out there.”
Interviewer /// “Now, we’ve been keeping our eyes open on you- and you’ve done many great performances, but all similar. Can we expect for you to switch it up tonight?”
Clare /// “Yes, you definitely can. Since it’s an award show, I definitely wanted to have some production to make it a little more interesting.”
Interviewer /// “Your debut album comes out on February 1st, correct?”
Clare /// “Yes.”
Interviewer /// “Can we expect some of Nashville in it? After all, the show is nominated for four EMMYs tonight- and is amazing as usual.”
Clare /// “Yeah, I have ‘Looking For a Place to Shine’, and of course ‘Black Roses’ on the album. And I put the collaborations of ‘This Town’ and ‘If I Didn’t Know Better’ on the album as well. I also did a collaboration with Connie Britton on this original song called ‘Isles’, which is really beautiful.”
Interviewer /// “Are you gonna surprise us with any guests tonight?”
Clare /// “Haha- no, not tonight.”
Interviewer /// “So how do you get ready for something like this? Who are you wearing?”
Clare /// “I’m wearing this really nice Valentino dress tonight. Normally I just like to breeze through little boutiques in Nashville, but I was able to get my hands on some designers for tonight and thought this dress was extremely beautiful. As for getting on stage… I’m not gonna lie, I do get a bit nervous- but I just remember that lots of fans of the show and everything really wait for that moment to come so I just try to think of that. I really love performing though, and I’m happy I was able to perform ‘Black Roses’, since it’ll definitely show a lot of talent and skill.”
Interviewer /// “So when did you find out you’d be performing at the EMMYs?”
Clare /// “Earlier last week, actually. On Monday I got a call from the label and the television network and they just said- ‘Hey Clare, can you play ‘Black Roses’ for the EMMYs?’ and I just sat there in a bit of shock. But of course I agreed, and I spent lots and lots and lots of time perfecting every little detail of the performance today. I just want to do very well.”
Interviewer /// “What little details can we expect?”
Clare /// “Well of course there’s gonna be black roses on the floor, that’s a given. There are lots of other people involved on-stage, and off. I’ve really tried my best to create an exciting visual for this performance.”
Interviewer /// “And speaking of visuals- you just shot the ‘Black Roses’ video last weekend. How was that like and what can we expect from the video?”
Clare /// “It went extremely well; we had lots of amazing moments on-screen and off. I co-directed the music video with Matt Sharp and Tapehead, who did the video for The Veronicas’ ‘You Ruin Me’, which I really love. Uhm… there’s lots of things going on in the video actually. I’ll just say that between this performance and the video, there are some similarities- but also new, fresh things brought into the performance which I really love.”
Interviewer /// “Well, we can’t wait to see your performance. Good luck.”
Clare /// “Thanks.”
After the interview (uploaded to outlets and discussed on them), Clare headed backstage. She wore a long, white crystal-embedded dress with a pale belted detail; still looking simple, of course. Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton came out onto the stage, as Hayden spoke. “Our show, Nashville, is about the Country music industry- with many things- females in the industry, love, alcohol, family, and more. But one character that stands out is Scarlett O’Connor- a poet. As she gets into music, and gains success, she also doubts herself- but eventually finds what her heart truly wants.” Charles Esten then stepped up to the microphone. “Here to perform the Nashville track, and her new single, ‘Black Roses’, please welcome my good friend- Miss Clare Bowen.” The audience applauded upon her entry. She stepped forward to her piano, which was on the complete left side of the stage. The lights dimmed, and she played an introductory piece on the grand piano, which was beautiful. She then began to sing the first lyric of “Black Roses”, as the rest of the stage was revealed.
A huge white orchid tree stood in the middle of the stage, surrounded by thousands of black roses’ petals on the floor. Clare was deep into the first verse, as the first extras appeared. A couple carrying a stillborn baby in a gray blanket were shown, as they looked into each other’s eyes and laid the baby down, with the woman in tears and the couple walking. Clare was into the bridge, as a mother and a daughter were walking towards the tree. The mother cried and hugged the daughter ‘Goodbye’, as the mother walked away and the daughter took a subtle downward spiral to the floor, laying there. As the chorus kicked in, a breeze of some red rose petals came in as an old man came to the tree. He placed a polaroid of his passed wife on the tree, and blew a kiss goodbye. Light sparks invaded the stage from the sky, as Clare got up from her piano and walked to the center-edge of the stage. As the second verse came in, a teenage girl was met with a mirror by the tree. She despised her reflection, took her shoe, and smashed the mirror’s glass with it, with the pieces laying with the polaroid, sleeping daughter and stillborn baby. Some projections then began to play behind the stage, on the screens behind her of fallen soldiers in wars, and their funerals. Clare sang with amazing passion, looking very poised and elegant at the same time. The bridge came in as many people dressed in black came to the tree and began lighting candles, with the lights dimming even more. Clare’s operatic influences began to show in the live rendition of the track, as her vocals pierced high and mighty- having many celebrities impressed. A country twang in the arrangement was added in the chorus, along with some classical dashes to build up the climactic vocals more. Clare then grabbed a red rose from the floor, and placed it right under the tree. She returned to her piano, singing the final chorus on the way. She then played a melancholy outro on the piano, which sounded beautiful. The reverb and sustain of each note was held out to perfection. When the performance ended, everyone gave her a standing ovation and she smiled and thanked the crowd through the microphone. The affect of the EMMYs performance would be massive, and a significant point in her for her career.
