Azealia Banks has been everywhere the past few days and today she finishes it out by releasing the second single off of her album The Dying Stars, Fly featuring Childish Gambino. The song was originally released as a promotional single during this past week and due to high demand and success it had as a promo single, Azealia has decided to release the song Fly as an actual single, making it the second single off of the album which just recently charted at number one. The song is written by both Azealia and Gambino. Azealia wrote the majority of the song while she was staying in Senegal to learn more about herself and who she was. She however felt that it was highly neccessary to have someone else appear on the track and that person was Childish Gambino. Azealia first got together with him when the two of them were working on his debut album and Azealia truly felt that he was necessary for Fly as it would flow better. During the song, Fly has two separate rap verses done by Gambino and Azealia sings the chorus, a verse, and the bridge to the song. Fly has received rave reviews from critics who all heavily praised Azealia's ability to sing on the track and sound effortlessly talented. During an interview with Billboard, Azealia said the following about the release of Fly as the second single off of the album The Dying Stars "I felt this was the best decision as a second single off of The Dying Stars. It truly represents my album and who I am as a whole. It really shows my talent and Glover's amazing lyrics. It also helps my hip hop fans who have missed the hip hop side of my music and considering this has heavy hip hop influence, I feel my old school fans will definitely not be disappointed with how it has turned out. I plan to release the music video for Fly later on this week on live tv so be sure to look for that because I've been working hard on it with both direction and production. You can definitely expect me to continue promoting the song as I have been working day and night on the beauty of this piece and I can only hope that my fans will appreciate it. Fly is one of my favorite songs off of the album and I will not let this song not succeed like it deserves to. My hard work, blood sweat and tears, that have been put into all of this need the attention and recognition. I believe and hope I can get that in this upcoming week. One can only hope. The lyric video for Fly was also revealed as the single was released. The lyric video of Fly is directed by Azealia Banks. During the lyric video, you see birds being released from a cage. The birds are ravens and they're in a silver cage against a white background. There are three of them in a small confined space. You hear them squaking throughout the beginning ten seconds of the video until you see Azealia's hand go in and unlatch the cage, setting them free. Once the door is open, the instrumental of Fly begins and you have the lyrics appear across the screen in a very blocky ultra modern font. Throughout the lyric video, you see Azealia's birds she set free fly around as the words flow like the wind in the sky. THe lyric video ends with one of the birds being shot down. The lyric video has received a great response and is expected to be a huge success with the fans of Azealia as well as the fans of Childish Gambino. Critics have praised the video as both deep and artistic, without being too much. Be sure to watch the lyric video and buy The Dying Stars today as well as Fly featuring Childish Gambino.

I was kind of expecting Cara's album to fall but I thought it would not be down to #4 however the sales for it are good and it's over platinum
La Belle is also platinum this week as well
Honey has great sales considering it's only its first week as an actual single

“Eyes Shut” is a song about betrayal. It’s a breakup song that Natalia holds very personal and dear to her and in the explanation of the song, Natalia had this to say:

“Eyes Shut is a song I wrote when I was about 16, 17 and it’s actually a song about betrayal. I used to date this boy and for the longest time I acted like what we had was actually true and I believed that we had true love. He allowed me to live with him and for a long time we were actually happy. Along the course of the relationship though, I knew something was right. I wasn’t sure what it was but I was very aware that something fishy was in fact going on in the relationship, but of course, I paid it no mind. It was a certain day however when I walked into our apartment and he wasn’t there…the house was a wreck, it’s like we were mugged…in fact, we WERE mugged. Only thing is that I was mugged, he had robbed me of everything that I had and he had left me there betrayed. The song is honestly a wake-up call because when I saw the song again and when I recorded it again, it felt like a sob song but I didn’t want that for it so what I did was that I re-wrote some parts of the song…added some parts, took some parts out and just made the song more of an empowering message than a sob story to everybody facing a relationship that they are not happy with. This song actually goes hand in hand with another song on the album called “Wounded Fist” which is about domestic violence.

Women just need to learn to stand up and not take **** from anybody because the truth of the matter is that if you are not happy, if you are genuinely not happy…nobody else can make you truly happy. So with this song, I’m urging everybody, every woman especially to take some time out for themselves and get to know and love themselves cuz that’s the only real path to happiness.”

“Eyes Shut” doesn’t come as a surprise to Natalia Kills fans or the general public as it was released last week as a promotional single and has even been on the charts selling over 120,000 units already. This boost to single just means that the song would have more attention paid to it and hopefully is well embraced by the general public.

In addition to the new single release, Natalia announced her new wave of dates for her ongoing “The Definition of Bad” Stadium World Tour which sold all of it’s shows in the first week. The album “The Definition of Bad” currently sits at no.3 on the albums chart and has gone platinum in its 2 weeks of release.
