That's only because it was a routine back then. When the VMAs are held on Sundays for over five years and make a change, ratings will initially dip. Next year, if it's held on a Thursday again, ratings will probably not be as low because more people will remember from last year that it was held on a Thursday.

Why did they decide to change it back to Thursday though, and why did they do it in Sept? And all I wanna know is, did the VMAs set the date first, or did the DNC, cause if MTV set it first then people can't get mad at them for the DNC being on same day.

VMA is an annual award show. No one who has a life would ever have that so-called routine in their head for a year.

Exactly what he said. Can you not read, Rainbows? You can keep saying "lolol highest ratings were on thurdssday, it was only 4 a cuple yurs on sunday" but people have gotten into a routine of watching it on Sunday. Since what, 2007 it's been on Sunday? It was 4 straight years of the VMAs taking place on Sunday. Do you get it now or are you gonna keep repeating the same thing as you have been this entire time?

Beyonce, Britney, and GaGa have nothing to do with this much. Music lovers like me tune in whether they are there or not. The BIG reason it dropped was because:

1. It was on a Thursday and the timing was an hour early. I'm in college now so I didn't get home until probably 30 minutes after my last class ended. I only thought I was gonna miss part of the red-carpet Pre-Show but I ended up finding out I missed 20 minutes of the show

2. The DNC is huge so basically it's gonna fall anyway.
