Discussion: What do you have against fem gays?

I don't particularly think that being "fem" is a problem.
Some people take it to extremes however.
Like, I'm gay, but I don't wear make up and stuff. I also don't carry around a purse or anything like that.
I make it clear what my sexual orientation is. I like it that way. That way, there can be no confusion or awkwardness in that aspect (especially with straight guys).
I think most people who are really really fem are merely people who feel the need to explore the boundaries of their sexuality. It's more or less like trying to find out the person that you are + the kind of persona you want to express. "Masculine" gays are no different.
Mehhh.

So what about that fem kid that had no choice in how he acts? Does he deserve to be picked on or ostracized because by heterosexuals and even some homosexuals standards he's not "normal" acting enough? Hell no. And, that's such bull seeing as it's the stigma that's attached to being gay aka being promiscuous, non-committal, disease ridden, the act of sex etc. not just being a fairy and giving fashion advice everywhere you go.

I'm sorry. **** what people think though, you shouldn't hold back because you're afraid of what people would think. Not everyone is gay because their voice is high pitch, ignorant people.
Even though I have nothing to complain about, I actually don't like my deep voice, accent and speech. :-/

Well good, I am glad you are doing all of that...I have said MULTIPLE times in this thread that it is just important for the more masc gays to live out and proud and show all the different ways that a gay can act and be. I don't want gays to be just femme, but unlike you, I don't want gays to be just masc either. Gender bending is a part of gay culture whether you want it to be or not, and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a contribution to culture that I am proud of.
And at the age of 3 and 4 I used to play dress-up in dresses and play with dolls and relate to the female cartoon characters etc...I have ALWAYS been more feminine. What I had to learn is my masculine side, because that didn't come as natural as feminine. You don't know me, and you don't have the right to say that I was not born feminine. Gender roles and acts are social constructs, not the other way around.
Also you continue to show your ignorance. I am feminine and have a ton of straight MALE friends. They all love my personality. i am not segregating myself, and neither do any of the gays I know. And could you sound any less intelligent implying that because I act feminine, the only things I can talk about are fashion/gossip/catty things? From what I can tell, you are one of the least intelligent people on this forum, so don't get condescending with me. If someone is annoying, it is because they are annoying, not because they are feminine. If they are ****s, it is because they are ****s, not because they are feminine. People aren't one-dimensional, but bigoted people like you have trouble understanding that.
|
And how do you know you didnt learn being a fem at age 3? We are exposed to the stereotype at ages far younger than that.
And dont tell me you're not segregating yourselves. You are. Otherwise, a "gay community" or "LGBT collective" would not exist.
I am not planning to change fems. Its their choice and they will deal with the consequences. But dont ask me to accept the source of all gay discrimination in the world.
I am done *waits for the fems to congratulate you for "winning" the argument*

It's not about that. Your statement is about conforming to what others deem acceptable & appropriate and if they aren't doing that they are only either hurting the gay community or not being who they are which isn't true.
And, it's funny that you say "bold" is who you are considering the definition of that word. It's to take risks and step out of the norm while being confident in who you are. Fem men are doing just that.

So do you think it's right that people should be beaten up for the way they act, even though it doesn't harm anyone? because if so, you surely must think it's ok to beat up gays for what they do in the bedroom, even though it doesn't harm anyone.

The problem with the feminine versus masculine gay argument is that it's hard to define who falls under which title. We all have feminine personality traits, some more than others. Just like we all have masculine personality traits. If by "feminine", you mean the gay guys that wear makeup and whatnot, then that would fit alot of people's arguments in this thread. If by "feminine", you mean the gay guys that have higher pitched voices, gossip about celebrities, and listen to pop music, then that would be most of the gay people on ATRL.
I have nothing against anybody, no matter how gay, straight, black, white, etc they are. Would I ever date somebody who is so feminine that they dress up as a drag queen regularly? No. Would I ever date somebody who is gay and acts gay? Of course. I never understood why the majority of gay people limit themselves to only "straight" gay guys. You know, the muscular ones with the deep voices that only listen to country, rock, and rap music and enjoy playing/watching sports with their buddies. The ones that could easily pass as a straight guy. Yes, we can all dream about someday having one, but odds are it won't happen for most of us.

But how is being fem "stepping out of the norm"? If anything, it's giving in to what society expects of a gay men.

It doesn't really bother me now because alot of kids have squeaky voices like me. Some are even more high pitched than mine. It was just embarrassing as hell when some dudes tried to get me to scream out "On your mark get set go" and I couldn't do it because I have virtually no bass in my voice. Come to think of it barely any of them had bass either.

I can't tell you how many guys at my school went from wearing baggy clothes and talking about football and basket to now wearing tighter fitting designer clothes, getting manicures, dying their hair blonde, getting their eyebrows arched and talking about shopping and how much they love it.

No of course its not ok. But why go through all that when it can easily be avoided by not being a fem?
When you're a fem you gain notoriety, whether for good or bad causes. There are plenty of other ways to gain JUST the good kind of notoriety.

Because they are being bold while doing so, did you not being bold was part of what someone was? You did. And, no being promiscuous is what society expects from gay men no matter masc or fem. Which is why gay people have to fight for the right to get married because heterosexuals don't deem it normal.
