She's not that successful or long lasting here in the US. Maybe she's a thing in countries where people are exclusively using free services but Celine was never very big here for very long despite having multiple #1 singles. It was pretty much Titanic and then people were done with her. I was kind of shocked at how fast they dropped her and moved on TBQH.

Don't be silly, Celine was/is huge everywhere. There's a reason she's become an entertaining icon in Vegas (a US city). She was just never a traditional pop star like her peers.

Janet is not overrated.

She taught people how to reinvent her soundand image without focusing on controversy the way Madonna did.

As a performer she is underrated because you just hear about her dancing abilities and rarely about her stage shows.

I don't think most of her music or videos stood the test of time in which Madonna was able to achieve that honor so I think that part is overrated

Her performance shows and impact are underrated.

her influence is fairly rated as we all know she influenced britney, Pink, Beyonce, Usher, Timberlake and alot of the 00s generation artists

But I started to get into her discography this year and I am lowkey turning into a fan of Ms. Janet. She is super talented artist and her legacy is underrated globally. At least MTV and radio stations should play Rhythm Nation, Together Again and All For You

It's like, if you compare her to Madonna then some people would say M has more merits because she started out of nothing while J had her brother/family fame to back her up. where did I "aggressively discredit her to look cool" here tho? I was being honest about how I got to learn about Janet Jackson in a respectful way. I pointed out how Janet's impact isn't big here as most of her stans like to point out. Her music doesn't get radio airplay like Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Cher, etc. etc. so that's why she isn't known for her legacy. I pointed out how her fans shouldn't be the ones who are "agressively" attacking members who don't know about her music career and rather be more calm and not get all frustrated about it. And as I mentioned before, I am listening to Janet's discography and learning about her impact. If other members wants to join me into doing the same, that's awesome!
