Yeah umm, that's not true.
Maybe in a severe and rare case of OCD but otherwise, most general sufferers of OCD are high functioning and can leave their homes. Also, these things aren't consistent, as someone else mentioned, she could be having a good day to be out. Assuming someone's experience based on what you think OCD should be is ignorant and lazy.

No. See my post above, that OCD is always serious. It only becomes OCD when the activities begin to have negative impact on the person's everyday life, and that they often take up more than hour of said person's day. Educate yourself on the actual definition of OCD first. The majority of people who claim to have OCD really don't.

I'm not sure if this is actually offensive though as it's just a play on words. Could be wrong though.

I didn't say she did or didn't because OCD can take many forms. But the negative social stigma with OCD is not that it's not considered a real condition, the major stigma is that so many people self-diagnose and mistake the fact that they have a routine as suffering from an actual mental illness.
Fighting some random micro-aggression that very, very few people find offensive instead of the major problem facing this mental illness just seems a little facetious.
|
But one problem is another. If you can make fun of OCD you can make fun of Depression, etc.
It could just as well be a t-shirt that says "I have depression... Christmas is over" or something.

You realize that you're bringing an article using grades or criticism as it's example of why people are offended to a thread about people saying making a joke out of a mental disorder is wrong, right? I get what you meant to say when you posted the article but it wasn't executed well. Grades and/or criticism =/= mental disorder jokes.

Also there are far worse things than being a SJW... you know, like being a bigot who doesn't care about other people's struggles.

So if she takes up 6 hours a day on OCD,
And she has 8 hours of work.
And she gets 6 hours of sleep.
In the remaining 4 hours she goes to Target and is on social media.
WE SOLVED IT.

You're wrong period. You clearly don't know anything about OCD. Please refer to the Y-BOCS, the Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale. It clearly scales the severity of OCD. Not all cases are "serious".

No, our generation just takes everything WAY too personally. Like, the article itself is poorly written but the points it's trying to make are 100% accurate.
It's just a freaking sweater
Here's a more professional article:

The minute somebody doesn't agree with an SJW, their instant reaction is: YOU'RE AN OPRESSOR, YOU'RE A BIGOT, YOU'RE A HATER
like stfu no I'm not, I'm just not oversensitive keyboard warrior

There is always some big problem with the younger generation used to belittle and brush aside their concerns...

That's literally what it means in this case, though.

Well if you are hating on a group of people, if you are discriminating them, marginalizing them, belittiling them for being who they are, then are you one or more of those things.

You just typed an oxymoron.
Different levels of severity already presumes that there's more serious cases and more acute cases but ok. Let's pretend not to comprehend basic English and scream "SJW" "Oversensitive" from the mountain tops.

With this comment you clearly fit the criteria of somebody who ignores dictionary definitions.

if you want to be enabled rather than confronted, there are many universities across the land (in Missouri and elsewhere) that will give you exactly what you want, but Oklahoma Wesleyan isn’t one of them.

After weeks of escalating student protests and the threat of a football team boycott, the president of the University of Missouri system resigned Monday, forced out amid complaints that he had done too little to address racism and other ugly incidents on campus.
The unseating of two of the university’s top leaders was a swift victory for student activists, who had been railing against what they see as a divisive racial climate on the midwestern campus. They have accused Missouri’s president, Tim Wolfe, of not addressing racist and bigoted incidents this academic year, including when the undergraduate student body president was called the n-word, when a white student climbed onto a stage and shouted slurs as a black group rehearsed a skit, and more recently when a swastika was drawn on a wall with human feces.
|
But go ahead and agree with a right-wing nut who sees the students of Mizzou speaking out on racism they face as being "enabled" and wanting to be "coddled". It's a realllllly good look.
