This was one of the more surprising results of the rate for me. I didn't think it would make it this far. "You've Got a Way" is always sorta overlooked because "You're Still the One" and "From this Moment On" were the two huge, successful ballads of Come on Over. I'll always love the video of her in the flower dress (she looked so stunning). The bridge for this song ("Oh how I adore you, like no one before you, I love you just the way you are") is superb. The song did well in America, reaching #6 on the AC chart, #13 on Country, and #49 on the Hot 100. A fact that I did not know until this rate started was that the song was nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys in 2000, which is huge! I had no idea it received that much praise.
Our #10 song is "Don't Be Stupid", the second single from Come on Over. I really love this song, but it was one of my 9.5s, not a 10, so this feels like a good spot for it to leave. The single was Shania's second consecutive Top 40 hit on the pop chart, showing Shania's crossover success was right around the corner. The video is extremely memorable for the clog dancers that were dancing around in the water with Shania, which shows off Shania's incredible cultural diversity once again. I would post a link to the video, but the only one on youtube is the dance mix, which is disgusting and I don't want y'all to hear it
What can I say? It's the second best song Shania's ever done. I'm sad it's leaving before the Top 2, but I genuinely didn't think it would make the Top 10, so that makes up for my sadness. I just think this song is so well-written and truly captures a young girl's crush that she's going to keep as her own little secret. The bridge. THE BRIDGE. The bridge. It's the best piece of music I've ever heard And the harmonica ***** on all of us. The human race doesn't deserve music this good!
The bridge gives me goosebumps. Her falsetto is gorgeous! Glad it made the top 10! What did I give it? Don't know what I was thinking not giving it a 10...
