You're being delusional sis. Zayn leaving 1D was news everywhere. I had straight friends who know that I like "some guy named Zayn from that 1 Direction group" saying things like "oh you must be upset that zane guy left". Multiple straight friends were talking about it and it was even on the news, on talk shows, Daily Shows, etc. My mom even asked me to explain what's up with that Zayn fellow everyone's talking about. Even Stephen Hawking of all people had something to say about it.

He's had like 1 real "hit" thanks to Sam Smith, and one local success. Either way, any Zayn fan knew Zayn was planning to go solo soon. He had been working on his own music LONG before he quit 1D. 
@ people still trying to act surprised by this. 
That doesn't mean he can't still work on his passion.
