I chose one from Heartbreak and Darkness, one of the lines gave me an idea to what I can follow the verses up with which is pretty dark. I just need to find a smooth way to word everything, It's kind of clunky right now.

I always explain my inspiration for songs.

I know when I listen to new music, I need to understand what the writer felt, or how the performer feels when they perform the song in order for me to make a full judgement.

Well I was just reading the challenge thing, maybe i didn't catch that part, but I think your right about giving a perspective as to why one wrote they hook/chorus they did.

I mean will the judges judge the statement, because I'd rather have a statement then let the hook/chorus speak for itself GotSkill

Thing is for the song I wrote I use male pronouns such as "he" and I explained it because I didn't want them to think I was writing about an ex-boyfriend.

Yeah Jackson, you should clarify. This has come up in previous seasons. I kind of agree with the idea that the lyrics should stand on their own and that explanations influence voting too much amd therefore shouldn't be shared until the votes are in, but you're the host! Either way, I probably won't read them so I can keep an unbiased view as I judge.

We dont judge the explanation. I know last season I included explanations sometimes but sometimes I preferred for the song to speak for itself. It can be more powerful that way sometimes

I never include explanations because I do want to know what the judges actually think, feel and interpret my song as being when it's just 'on-the-surface', you know? Explanations, I feel, blur the original intent of what I was going for but whatever floats your boat.

Eh, this is probably going to take me another couple of days tbh. Just been too busy. I've laid out a simple melody for the provided verse that I'm happy with though. I figured that would be a good starting point. Then I'll figure out how the hook and chorus will fit into it and tie it all together.
