This song/video is about sexism. Not racism. Point blank period so y'all really need to DROP it.

You're missing the point.

She's saying that she can shake her ass if she wants to. But she won't be used for that purpose alone because shaking asses is not all that woman are good for. She's not saying "girls that shake their ass have no brain" she's saying "no need to shake my ass for you" in order to gain your approval and admiration because I have a brain just like the rest of us.

Video's like Blurred Lines portray the girls as if walking around topless is all they are good for.
You can clearly see all the back-up dancers joking around throughout the whole of Lily's video.

You need to actually understand the message rather than analyze each lyric individually.

If you find offense from this, as Lily mentioned in the song, you're either not understanding or you're the one with the problems. If you can't detect the sarcasm you're misunderstood.

i'm also a fervent feminist, i 100% understand the lyrics and video lmao
she clearly did not have any racist intentions involved in this but some of it does come across as racist unintentionally, and there's other problems i have with it not linked to race
there's NOTHING wrong with analyzing a work for both what it intended to do and what it unintentionally may have done and that's what i did with hard out here, if you take a work just for what its creator says it is you're going to miss a huge part of the pie

Well then it's the people dumb enough to misinterpret that have the problem. No use attacking her for your lack of understanding. There are many ways to interpret something, doesn't mean they are correct. When I first watched the video I immediately noticed that the majority of women were black but my initial thought was that she was making fun of rap videos (or Rihanna's last video) which use black women as sexual props/ objects which is kind of the point of the song.

Also, I think she is making fun of the recent craze of twerking which emerged/originated from black culture and I believe black people in general are better at it than white people in general. If dancers audition to dance in the video and the majority of dancers who were best in the audition happened to be black should they have hired less talented white dancers to avoid being "racist"?

It's a pop video with an overall positive message which is something that is somewhat rare. I think people are really overreacting.
