HonourableVomit commentary - This might seem a rather obscure 11, but I was afraid that the girls participating in the rate wouldn't appreciate how important this song is. The Avicii version that leaked is pretty shite, but Blood Diamonds production really elevated it to one of the best on Rebel Heart. It's current, relevant and the words come straight from her heart. It's a pity it doesn't get the praise it deserves, relegated to Super Deluxe bonus track. A stunning song done wrong.

It was strategic. And it still wasn't enough. This song is so slept on. Proud I could push it up as far as I did though.

Oh come on now this is such a good song that it transcends language. Xenophobes and assholes tbh! It's catchier in sanskrit than some of the garbage she writes in English (looking @ u Revenge / Like A Flower).

Also I SCREAMED out loud when I scrolled past Candy Shop because I could feel it coming.

If Nobody Knows Me gets punched (I had a vision that it would be out before top 50) I'm truly going to scream.

Host commentary - I’m Breathless ha hidden bop. This song is one of the few songs on IB that I think merges the jazz and theatrical influences she was channeling with her general pop sensibility. It has such a catchy hook and the production is so fun. I don’t want to associate with anyone who doesn’t smile a bit during that glorious sax outro (I love sax in pop songs or at least the old stuff...not all these new “songs” that are destroying it).
Guest commentary
Lifeline -Single and video worthy!
Reinvention–The verses are a yawn, but the chorus is pretty solid.
LoveLiveMusic - A perfect way to bring pop and jazz together for me. I love how it progresses and shows her sultry side when the horns aren’t in the song. I think we could all visualize Madonna shaking her hips and teasing us during these slower parts.

Why are my 10's ranking so low!!! Ugleeeeee hoes.

Host commentary - I cannot believe this lasted as long as it did. I ain’t mad about it though. Like it isn’t much of a Madonna song per se, but this just knocks so hard that it is hard not to love it. I would groove so hard to this at a club or a party. Plus it is the instrumental of Goodbye to Innocence, which is one of Madonna’s best songs ever.
Guest commentary
Lifeline - One of M's best instrumentals ever. Britney (kii, ha producers) apparently took note for her version entitled Up N Down. Get the 'Rain' single CD bishes and bawp yourself into a trance just as I do whenever I'm on some endless road at night.
Reinvention - I love this. What a secret gem! Love that it goes for about a year too. Indie house music alternative icon.

This made me holler. I've never seen a dabunique post where he dragged something by Madonna.
I'm so used to seeing him post 'chile hush' whenever someone tries to drag a song.

Host commentary - This song is literally Girl Gone Wild 0.5. Like I’m serious. Listen to GGW and listen to this and tell me they don’t sound ridiculously similar. #Reductive (well I guess GGW is reductive, but you didn’t need this song to know that). It is a small bop, but it lasted way too long in my opinion.
Guest commentary
Subomie - Very cool, but lacking something to make it really punch.
Reinvention– this is amazing! Where is it from?

Host commentary - A really creative moment and Madonna should really do more spoken word stuff (or just put out an audiobook of the Bible). Her voice sounds both formidable and comforting at the same time. This and If You Forget Me give all kinds of life. Maybe do them as interludes to help an album seem cohesive. That being said, I don’t think it should have outlasted all of these actual songs in the rate.
Guest commentary
Mr. Fahrenheit - One of her most creative moments ever. An inspired thought and still the best opening to any of her shows
Subomie - Interesting but I don't know if I like it beating actual developed songs. Feel similar to Act of Contrition.
Pandora- I know she’s literally just quoting stuff from the bible, but The Beast Within is insanely genius and haunting. The Justify My Love samples are really smart too + the visuals for it are mesmerizing.
Reinvention–I’ve always loved this, it’s so scary, and her voice is fierce.
LoveLiveMusic - This song has left an amazing legacy in Madonna’s touring career. Used as an interlude in The Girlie Show World Tour and as the opening of The Re-Invention World Tour it’s one of Madonna’s ultimate mixes of religion and music. In I’m Going To Tell You A Secret she described that the word beast isn’t about Satan or evil entity but more so the chaos in our own world how we will survive through it.

THE ACTUAL 1-2 PUNCH OF THESE SONGS GETTING ELIMINATED!!!!
**** all of you. I'm going to make a LoveLiveMusic Presents: Madonna's Discography Countdown.

Reinvention commentary - What is there to say? This song is perfect in so many ways, and blatantly one of Madonna’s own favourites. First of all, the song alone is great. The lyrics are blatant at parts, subtle at others. The beat thumps, and it challenges ideas about women’s sexuality and of course breaks down the expectations placed upon woman of a certain age and their sexuality. Madonna is asserting herself, refusing to conform, as she’s always done, and demanding us to worship her as the sex ICON that she is, and refuses to be seen as anything else no matter what age.
Vilppu commentary -To understand Candy Shop, we would have to go back to 2006. Back then, Madonna made her first mistake - she became interested in working with Justin Timberlake who, let's be honest, wasn't particularly creative during his FutureSex/LoveSounds era. Then we have mistake #2 - for further work she used Pharrell's demos. To add salt to the wound, she hired Timbaland who just started his decline. All of these combined made Hard Candy sound just incredibly weak and generic, with Candy Shop being just another evidence. The song-writing of it is just as unimaginative as it could get (candies being sex metaphors are not anything new or interesting), the melody sounds like another generic Pharrell track and let me not even start at this abhorrent chorus. That said, Candy Shop is simply painful to listen to, and the fact that she's been performing it for nearly 10 years over her actual masterpieces is sad.
Guest commentary
tylerlscwv - Preach Vilppu, preach! Take to church with your drag! Not even joking when I say Vilppu's commentary here might be my favorite part of the rate. The best part of this song’s placement is I didn't even have to drag it with my scores (I gave it a 4, which is higher than Reinvention's average score for everything pre-Music, so I think I was more than fair). It got justice by the grace of the general stan base. We have found victory today my friends as Flaccid Werther's putrid mission statement has finally been slain. It will live on taking up the spot of better songs on M's tours, but we will always know in our heart of hearts that it is trash.
Lifeline - Our Quen Alongoria made me use it. I'll admit that here to the general public.
But M choosing this as an uninspired tour filler ever since S&S made me sick of it again.
Eevelution - Candy BOP, amirite? Come on y'all lighten up and let this have top 30.
Subomie - Funky and cool, I like that Madonna knows her fans don't like it but brings it out on all the tours since its release. I love her.
