Satellites doesn't understand the power/impact of Madonna.

I don't either. With that said, I'd be surprised if she wasn't placed in the top 10 at least.

Usher is basically a one-album wonder. Everything else has done WELL, but he is hardly a model of consistency, and nothing about his work has changed the game--he is a watered-down MJ wannabe.

#1 Sexiest Artist In Music (VH1's Top 100 Sexiest Artists Of All Time List in 2002)
#1 Greatest Woman Of The Video Era
#1 Greatest Woman In Music (VH1 Classic)
Trust me, she's top 5.

Sis, you don't have to tell me twice???
But, let's talk about ratio - the old list was like 90 -10 in terms of males to females
I think this one will be 70 - 30. So which women will make it? Some are definites (Aretha, Madonna, Tina, Janis) and one was mentioned in the press release (Queen Bee) - who else?

lmao right? If JT is not making it, why the hell would Usher? DJ Got Us Falling in Love is not ... like, you guys really try it. What's next, people openly campaigning for Brandy and Monica? I already had someone tell me Hurt is a song everyone knows ...

One album wonder? My Way? 8701? Confessions? Raymond V Raymond? I think not. Just because Confessions was his only album to go diamond doesn't mean he's an one-album wonder especially since the rest of his albums went platinum not to mention few other albums that past decade went diamond besides Confessions, Speakboxx/The Love Below and few NSync and Backstreet Boys albums. Watered down MJ wannabe? Usher only copied MJ's dance moves not his style of music. Michael was pop, Usher is R&B. Usher's music became popular because of drama he is basically the male version of Mary J Blige

I was thinking Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston (if they considered her an "artist?"), a random Lauryn Hill, etc. IDK. Could Etta James make the list? I can't think of any pop artists worthy of nominations outside of the ones mentioned.

Britney will chart due to the impact that she's made in the past 12 years. (Especially if the ****ing overexposed Beyonce will). GaGa could make a surprise appearance in the 80's-100's.
Other darlings who could make it: Janet (top 50), Mariah & Whitney for their vocal impact each... Annie Lennox/Eurythmics... Blondie is definitely within a shot I think.
My synthpop darlings won't chart because this is America.

IMO, Whitney, Mariah, Janet and Cher will all make it. Other possibilities include old timers like Nina Simone and Billie Holiday--plus Diana Ross and Donna Summer. Not to mention some of the Lilith Fair singers (Sarah, Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple?), and other '90s stars like Alanis.

One album wonder doesn't meant to be taken literally but abstractly. Save Confessions, Usher is just another R&B act who blends well with the crowd, not precisely a show stealer. And the drama part is a nice touch too.

I'm not talking about success, I'm talking about impact and musical significance. Usher has never done anything special for the music industry, he is just a placeholder for more interesting male pop acts like the aforementioned MJ and JT. You're a fan of his, I get it, but it's reality.
He is a one-album wonder because Confessions is all he will be remembered for, unless of course he has some other massive smash era.

Elton John will definitely make the list.
I think people would do better looking at "best of" albums and songs lists to get a better grips of what the industry and critics love.

I really hope the list won't be as 60's/70's dominated as the last one... the '80s/'90s need just as much representation if not even MORE than those two from the last list.
