Relax guys, it's probably a rerun when they did this the first time years ago.
You know VH1 doesn't have 5 hours of original programming!

Nah, I'm pretty sure they're redoing it. They can't run such a list in 2010 and have Michael Jackson at #40 lol. They've also redone some of their other lists recently.
I do find it amusing that this thread is already 12 pages, but speculating is fun. The thread for the actual show though is going to be a damn mess.

If people cry that Britney, Christina, KE$HA or JUSTIN BIEBER didn't make the list, I will scream...

the top 5 was

5-ll cool j (< What is this I don't even)
so I expect this list to be in the ballpark.
LOL usher? There are way too many artists from the 80's and 70's, usher has no place
|
If Usher has no place then neither does Beyonce or Jay-Z come on these 3 artists dominated this decade and took the world by storm artists from this decade will make the list it might as well be these 3

Not by the fans bruh, just several critics, magazine editors

There's no point to your post, or you're only using an unrelated image/GIF as your reply.

Anyway, let's talk about how big a presence hip-hop is going to have. Will it just be Jay-Z?

Maybe I'll just get the rundown in the actual thread.
Also, I'll probably do sporatic comments like on page 14, 27, 55, and 98. Not intentionally, I have to sleep you know.

If Jay-Z is there I expect 2Pac and Biggie. Also Eminem, Outkast, Public Enemy, and Run-DMC.
7 might be too much for a list like this, though.

That would be so ludicrous if only Jay-Z made the list from the Hip Hop club. Truthfully speaking, Jay-Z isn't the best rapper out there and his music is certainly not waters and balloons over too many Hip Hop legends. He's just the most business savvy, which shouldn't have an effect on this kind of list. I would be all for him getting a slot, but to dismiss a slew of other Hip Hop royalty would make me question the voters' taste and knowledge of Hip Hop.

Yeah, not everyone can make the list. Many legends will miss the cut. That's why I would love a longer list; only certain artists could be considered "legends" or "icons."

Kids, go back a few pages and check VH1's first Top 100 Artists list. VERY heteronormative, straight white male - why should this change?

alright in that case maybe it won't be a big outrage if Usher doesn't make the list even though he is definitely a R&B legend. but yeah the list could be skewed so I shouldn't be surprised

It's 2010 now and they are more open, you see how they included Beyonce in the press release.

It also really does crack me up that certain fanbases really think Madonna won't make this list - or that she won't at least be in the top 25 (closer to the top ten)? I mean, that is INSANITY.

Besides, as I've been a VH1 nut since 2000, I remember Madge's positions on every major list:
#1 Sexiest Artist In Music (VH1's Top 100 Sexiest Artists Of All Time List in 2002)
#1 Greatest Woman Of The Video Era
#1 Greatest Woman In Music (VH1 Classic)
Trust me, she's top 5.

lol it's crazy. My guess is that Madonna will either be the highest ranking woman, or second highest after Aretha.

Oh please. Madonna, as much as I cannot see what is so interesting about her, is in there. Isn't she considered the Queen of Pop? I say top 5, or at least top 10. Madonna is too respected not to be placed high.
