I have OCD and am not insulted, but that doesn't mean that those who are have no point to make.
If someone says they are hurt/insulted by something, you don't brush it away and say "oh you're too sensitive" you listen and empathize with them. I can't believe how hard this seems for people to do.
There are cases when it goes to far, but that would only constitute a case where the insult in question could not possibly insult someone, and yet someone says it does. Clearly OCD is a mental illness and therefore a struggle, so clearly if someone says it's insulting, it is.

OCD isn't a really "illness". People are just being annoying.
With that said, the sweater is stupid.

I'm not comparing. You just said that OCD can be treated and I listed other things that could also be treated. You didn't even make a point at all there tbh.
Plus, who's sitting at home and self-diagnosing? What am I missing here?

The thing about OCD is that it, like ADD, is often jokingly self-proclaimed like:
"OMG I am so OCD I cleaned my whole house today"
That isn't OCD, and the usage of it in culture like this has made a whole bunch of ignorant people who don't actually understand what it means.

Self diagnosis seems an extremely dangerous concept to me. People who are prone to attention seeking may not exercise discretion, and diagnose themselves with conditions for attention. At the extreme end they could receive medication that is not suited to their condition. I wouldn't take even one self diagnosis seriously. There's a vested interest, that leads to implicit falseness.

I'm not really offended but that sweater is really tacky. OCD is seen as a joke because most of the people 'with' OCD are self diagnosed and think they have it because they for example wash their hands every hour  OCD can be very serious and no one should joke about it.
And mess at the 'OCD is not a mental disorder comments'
