Both are super impressive, so I'm kinda on the fence on this one.

Beyoncé's SELF-TITLED was impressive because of its shock factor, no one even knew it was coming. There were so many naysayers after 4's underperformance, and she came back and snatched everyone's wig.

Taylor's super impressive because this is her THIRD million-seller in a row and she's just a power to be reckoned with.

How can you know this? Beyoncé sold 600k+ in three days with only digital sales. If she had physicals out she would've sold 900k+ her first week. I could care less how many she would sell in one day. It's about the first week.

At the end of the day they both broke records with their first day of release. And are going to outsell every other girl in the game.

What the hell? Beyoncé wasn't available "Everywhere". Stop lying and learn your facts. Target and Amazon refused to stock the album physically. Taylor has a Target deal and a deluxe version exclusively with them. If Bey had the same she would've sold close to a million. Amazon caved later on. Target still doesn't carry it.

1989 is far more impressive. The media attention "BEYONCÉ" received would have been enough to make Taylor debut with 3M, had it been done by her. It was only a smart gimmick. Too bad it was wasted on Bey.

The fact that Taylor's done it before doesn't make it any less impressive.
Digital sales declined like 15% this year
Bey would have sold like 530k in this climate.
Plus the surprise factor worked for her because she had hype due to her hugely successful impressive tour and her super bowl.
If she had released normally there's no guarantee it wouldn't have pulled a 4. Her release was original and worked for her, it's unlikely it will ever work again though because it doesn't have a novelty effect. Unless it's someone like Adele or Taylor.

Both are very impressive though
