The surprise release does not 'scream' stats. Nobody had any had what kind of sales this would bring in. Most of them believed it wouldn't even be a moderate success.
And of course she cares about her music but she has been performing less and less compared to how much she used to. Beyonce has the power to snatch every single promo spot on TV (probably even more than Taylor could ever book) if she wanted to and there is no doubt about that, but did she?

"!!!! internet hype11!!! surprise releasing is enough promo!!!!11!!" is ******** because there was no guarantee that it would even push 500,000 units, so enough with that.

Not comparable. Both are equally great. Taylor is doing her usual. Bey showed she is still a force after all this time, and came back harder after her lowest selling album.

Question though for the Beyoncé haters: When was the last time your fave sold 2M+ albums in the US?

So huge promo, 4 singles, radio deals, tv ads, countless tv performances, tv interviews, press release, pre-orders, countless tweets etc is more impressive than an album that had no of that?

It's not a gimmick. It's a release strategy. Just because it was a surprise release, it was a mandatory purchase? Stop with the foolish excuses.

Taylor had EVERY avenue promo'd down. They both slayed given their circumstances.

You guys have to remember that if Bey has released BEYONCE the traditional way Taylor is doing it.. with lots of promo lined up.. I doubt Bey could have moved 600k in a day.

This is why I pick 1989 by Taylor as more impressive.
