I was pleasantly surprised by this pope's support and thought we were going in the right direction, but at the end of the day it's still organized religion, and I don't expect them to support gays rationally any time soon.

People are saying his opinion doesn't matter yet, they weren't saying that when he was in support of gay people. You can't have it both ways. You want to take all positive comments like a sheep but slam all the negatives like you never liked what he had to say before.
Either develop an actual opinion on the person or ignore it altogether because everything someone says, you're not going to agree with it. Don't flip flop from thread to thread. It's fickle.

Ah, well if this is what you meant then I agree. Though of course people have the right to change their opinion of him if they find out his support was false. After all, he made it seem like he was for equal rights and then says this.
