Why does it matter if they were starving? Why would you stan for someone just because they were poor? Does it make them more talented? Does them getting miraculously discovered say anything about them as a person aside from the fact that they were born poor and got lucky?

Can't get into her cuz she does too much on stage. Can't stand her giving 200% all the time, just seems too competitive. Also she sings too well, I wish she had bad vocals sometimes.

Also she seems too respectful, it's fake. I wish she'd post more realistic pictures of her smotking weed naked in the bathroom or reply our instagram comments talking about her BJ skills. Now THAT I would relate to.

yes its like hope even if its false hope it proves anything could happen
it shows that she has actually been through REAL PROBLEMS, it offers connection between the fan and singer
and especially profanity and all that it puts some colour on the persons skin proves she is REAL and not something other than human

"She has no personality" when your favorite has been in a coma since 2007 or
"She doesn't interact with the fans" when your favorite is hitting fans with a mic and insulting them every other week on instagram or
"I don't like her dancing" when your favorite is catwalking the stage for 2 hours every night is just STUPID

Well since I can't really contribute without being defensive, I think I should share why I did not stan for Beyonce (prior to 2006).

Before Deja Vu was released there was a slow rise in interest in Beyonce (I loved Check On It) but I never really felt connected to her as an artist. I know I liked her songs and her work with DC but beyond that I didn't really realize how great she was until YouTube happened and opened the door for the many flawless performances she had (and they only got better and better since 2006). After the Deja Vu performance at BET I realized, wait, everyone else is just bread while Beyonce is the cake. Also I saw her at MuchMusic and it slayed me.

I've loved her since I was 4 years old but I never could properly stan for her until recently because of how untouchable she felt, like I just couldn't stan for her when she's on another level. So I do understand what some people are saying.

But then I watched her documentary and some of her videos where she's being normal, and I got into her more personal songs and I just realised it was kinda stupid to let that hold me back.

She's too perfect. I like stanning for Britney because she goes out in stained sweatpants and uggs and opens her water bottles with her teeth and is awkward in public settings. I relate to that. I find it very human and I enjoy that side of her. We don't see that with Beyoncé. She's basically a deity to the public. And when she does try to show the human side of herself, it comes off as staged (Life Is But A Dream ).

So, IMO, stanning is more about relating to your fave as a person more than anything. But I don't relate to Beyoncé as a person. But that's OK. I still like her music, performances etc. But the reason a stan becomes invested in all this is precisely because they connect to their fave on a personal level, and if that connection isn't there, you really can't do anything about it.

The only reason I didn't stan before was because I never found her relatable. But that's part of her charm now, imo, she reveals enough about herself to be likeable without over-sharing. She's a performer, not our best friend, she shouldn't have to be candid all of the time.
