I don't even consider Hot Rap Songs a chart anymore. Literally only ONE rap song listened to by the actual Urban community has went #1 this year.

Psy - Gangnam Style [2 weeks]
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Thrift Shop [15 weeks]

All those songs have actually smashed thanks to Pop radio + most of their audience, except Holy Grail. I know y'all would say Eminem, but Eminem has a lot more fans outside the Urban community than y'all think + all his singles usually flop on Urban radio, and depend on Pop radio.

I also find it really shocking that black people are becoming a minority even on Rap Songs chart...Billboard needs to get it together. Had Jay-Z not gone #1, FLO RIDA would've been the only black rapper to go #1 on Rap Songs and he's completely Pop as it gets

^ At least most of the #1s on rap songs are actually hip hop songs now (apart from I Cry and Gangnam Style). If they did it this way in 2011 and 2012, it would've been dance songs at #1 the whole year.

The press release will be a mess. Wasn't this viral video at around 4 million when this weeks Hot 100 was announced?

They always say "probably" or "possibly" etc. Billboard never makes outright predictions because things can always change.

I'd bet Billboard would get a huge amount of criticism not only from Em/Rihanna fans, but also from Interscope. There'll be lots of pressure for them to change that rule.

If they do count that, it's stupid, but interesting at the same time. I'd like to hear their reasoning for it.

In the case if HS, their reasoning would be that the 30 second snippet is still relevant at the time. It's not just that the song happened to be playing during a video, it's that the song itself was the basis for a huge viral movement.

IMO, the uproar over Miley going back to #1 won't be as bad as one they would create by 1D getting robbed of their third #1 album.

Fortunately, 1D looks all but certain to top the Billboard 200 next week, so the worst that could happen is the Wrecking Ball/Monster thing.

Streaming isn't gonna be pulled. There will never be as many meltdowns as the week they announced it and "Harlem Shake" debuted #1 with 99% of it's points being streaming. That caused literally more meltdowns than anything else, because nobody knew how much streaming would effect the charts and everyone thought "Harlem Shake" was gonna spend 30 weeks at #1.

Nah. Although it premiered the week before, it was a Friday, so most of the effect carried into the next tracking week in terms of the digital boost.

If the video had premiered on a Monay the song wouldve gone top 20. Which is annoying, and stupid.

Aside from the possible streams of the cat crying diamonds during the AMAs, in TWO days the Chatroulette version has 36 million views.

In comparison, after 9(?) days, the video for the 2nd single of the year's top female has 11 million views (And the audio video for Dark Horse has 10 mil.).

I think so as well. It's just a question of how many weeks both will get.

Now my prediction is really...whats the word...on the low end of predictions. They both could go longer runs at number 1 but I think The Monster will get 3 weeks and Timber will get 2 weeks.

But both could easily go longer. But i think those are safe estimates.
