Why are there so many childish people on this damn thing
Oh, and thanks for admitting that Gaga stans have something to be arrogant about.
(..And because I've answered other people who clearly confuse themselves,
you wouldn't have made the comment if you believed I didn't have something to be arrogant about.)
Arrogant is not a compliment. Shall I rephrase it to delusional.
Gaga just had the luck to become huge at the same time as the mainstream pop girls image was changing and she used that as an advantage, her first 2 videos were "I look sexy when I dance" too

Everyone needs to shut the hell up. Katy did NOT copy GaGa, neither did Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. GaGa is put on such a high pedestal, and when Katy tries something new, and becomes an alien for a song (that is actually about an alien, I might add), everyone claims she copied GaGa. Makes perfect sense, right?

Kesha is much more like Uffie than Lady Gaga, and when I say much more I mean a total shameless rip-off and I don't see any Gaga on Nicki Minaj, Nicki Minaj is Lil Kim part 2, crazy outfits, colored wigs, rap (and even covered a few songs of her and uploaded onto youtube before blowing up).. I don't see any Gaga on neither of them
Except nobody knows who the **** Uffie is, but everyone knew that Just Dance was the smash hit drunk anthem sung by the glitter-throwing party girl.
Likewise, Minaj emerged right after Gaga, not right after Lil Kim's prime.
You're always going to find example of pop stars incorporating weird imagery, but I think what sets Gaga apart in most people's minds (whether justified or not) is her whole schtick has pretty much relied on weirdness from the start. Although it's become more and more extreme, it was still there from the beginning.
She didn't really do the sexy pop star thing and then make a weird video and then go back to the sexy pop star thing, which is what a lot of these examples are. I'm the last person to say Gaga is doing anything particularly original (though I think that applies to 99.9% of artists, and originality is overrated), but I do understand why the perception is there -- Gaga has successfully made weirdness her brand.
