actually we are on the forefront.. germany was the first country to churn out public health care for every citizen back in the 1880's. The Code Napoleon was actually kept after his defeat. France was the forerunner.. germany its apprentice and student until we became the teacher while everyone else degenerate.
as i said, germany is often reduced to 1939-1945 Germany. but that is as correct a picture as holding the crusades against italy.. or slavery against the United States or all those indian massacres against the UK etc etc etc
export of guns and weapons and austerity are the only 2 things i despise about Mrs. Merkel. It is also her party that still rejects the marriage act for homosexuals while the other 3 major parties in the parliament would make that happen.

It is. Don't show me Norway and Denmark and etc, with 5 million populations and a bottle of water for 12 euros. The welfare system is built to let no foreigners inside in general. Germany is a really big country, so for its proportion is the leader in human and economic front. While 95 percent of German people pay taxes, Greek people were only 25 percent of them paying taxes and living lavish lifes and they went bankrupt as deserved and they are living off German's money too. Same with Spanish islands whee you here more people speak German than Spanish. Germans are hard working, correct, efficient and that's it. And Italy is on top of the most racist countries so...

true, Germany has a tax surplus of over 20bn euros in 2015 + a positive export/import margin, racking in an estimated 180-200bn euros as well. + we own the 2nd largest gold reserves in the world.

he's offering to start a new country on it if he gets the legal paperwork done, he's gonna let them build new cities/uni/school/hospital etc, he'll put some temporary housing on it for them to live in while they build their new home themselves. He's willing to pay up to 100 million dollars. he'll even pay for them to go back home if they want to in the future

Find it funny how UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other muslim countries won't even accept them so Europe has to otherwise we're uncivilized.
Europe has good reasons to fear Islam. Can't really blame Hungarian prime minister for saying that.

You can't compare a country of 80million to a small one like Austria. I have friends and family there and while the standard for living is close, Germany is still miles ahead and you can not base everything on the income per capital.
Switzerland? Yes. Austria? No.

I know Italy is very racist, but what does that have to do with this? I certainly don't think we're well placed social justice wise
If by social justice frontrunner you mean a country with a low cost of living (a lot of people in Strasbourg go do their shopping in Germany ) and a good quality of life, then I agree.

Germany has the image in the world to be the land of milk and honey. The truth is of course a more realistic one, but these refugees just want to finally find a happier place for themselves now. No matter what it takes.
The people in here just make it all about themselves. Who cares about those who are currently gping through the lowest of the low a human can go through?
Would anybody of us want to be treated as the refugees from Syria? I doubt it.

They want it all and demanding it. They are not just happy to be in a safe place.

My grandparents are Austrian and life there is pretty great. I mean, I get it that it's smaller than Germany, but everything seems to work there.

this only shows the per capita income by that standard many countries are "richer" than Germany. Even the US which has an insane foreign debt crisis and nearly went bankrupt in 2014. The German state is one of the richest in the world. it used to be the country which made the most money in the world in the past decade due to its large exports and relatively low imports in comparison. RN Germany ranks #2 after China in regards to its economic balances..
Germany is also one of the "greenest" countries and one of only a handful to phase out nuclear energy. It invest so much money in green energy that it has become the world's leading nation in that field.
education here is free (and/or government funded). helathcare is government funded.. social benefits are extremely secure and high.. economc freedom is very high, the media is independent, we eat healthy black bread... lol.. i wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

no surprise everybody wants to get there, the problem is that the german government is doing too much.
two week my parents got a letter from the german government because we own two appartments there, saying that if we dont use it temporarily we have to give the government the right to accommodate refugees. like wtf
we are talking about fully furnished private upper class appartments here. get your sh*t together germany

None is saying Austria is not good. Ofc, is a bit better than Germany. But Germany is Austria multiplied by 10x with nearly the same living standards.
